Engine Toyota 1ND-TV 1.4 D4D 8v (Toyota Corolla/Yaris/Auris): consumption, service life, reliability, characteristics and reviews

Engines for Toyota Corolla Fielder

As with other models whose production marked the beginning of the new century, the list of Fielder engines is extremely short and unified. These are exclusively gasoline engines in the amount of 8 pieces. Many interested participants in Internet forums and experts admit that even on the other side of the Urals it is almost impossible to find a non-production version of a car with a diesel power plant.

The most popular engine for Fielder cars

Once again, as in many other models, the 1NZ-FE becomes the champion in popularity. Designed in 1999, it was the first to appear under the hood of the Corolla Fielder. 18 years and three generations of cars have passed, and the engine, as if nothing had happened, is installed in a variety of configurations. Probably, in terms of reliability, maintainability and mileage before repairs, it can be called one of the best in the line of Toyota engines.

In terms of components and set of parts, the unit is almost completely unified with another representative of the series - 1NZ-FAE. The main differences from it:

  • the operation of the fuel system is based on the principle of the Otto cycle;
  • installed electronic valve timing control VVTi;
  • The degree of compression is slightly reduced (to 10.5:1).

After restyling in 2004, hydraulic compensators and ETCS-i electronic throttles began to be installed on the engines.

The main advantage of choosing cars with a 1NZ-FE engine is smooth and very low fuel consumption:

  • in the city - 8.8 liters;
  • outside the city - 5.8 liters;
  • combined - 6.9 l.

Toyota Corolla 2008 - owner reviews

Positive feedback

Hello!!! So I decided to write my review about this beautiful car of its kind, which I have owned for five years now... to help those who, like me, once upon a time, 5 years ago, all tormented by doubts with an empty look “into nowhere”, thought about about what kind of car I should buy - one that is affordable, beautiful, economical, powerful, etc.

The first thing I will say is that in 74 thousand miles NOTHING has broken! At 40 thousand, replacement of front stabilizer bushings - 2 pcs.

I only get serviced at a branded service (I partially regret this) - I have no complaints about the service itself, everything is professional, without any scams. But I regret the service only because I changed the oil every 15 thousand, as required by the regulations, and naturally they filled me with Toyota oil... and you ask why I’m so upset, and I’ll answer you that after 45 thousand my crown suddenly started eating butter... Yes, with an appetite - about 2 liters per 15 thousand... and I admit, I scored my friends!!! I changed the oil again at the service center, asked the manager about it, to which he said that I shouldn’t piss in the compote and there’s nothing wrong with that, after changing the oil everything will go away. I left the service almost calmed down.

After 3 thousand, when I took out the dipstick, I experience mixed feelings - a chill down my back and a hot trickle running down my leg... the oil on the dipstick is a little higher than the minimum... Japanese God... What should I do? Sell? Let me dig through all sorts of forums and find all sorts of answers and oil tests. Namely, that Toyota oil is bullshit, and according to the experiments carried out, it corresponds to semi-synthetic, and the advice is to FILL IN GOOD OIL. I filled it with Motul 5w40 for the summer and lo and behold!!! The oil burning has stopped!!! For the winter I'll fill it with 0V-20. By the way, 0v-20 is recommended for Corolla engines, and the type 5v30 that they pour into us is an economical option, but only for them, not for us; for us, Toyota oil costs so much that you can buy any Motul or Laqui Mole.

I drive whenever, if I’m late for work, then on a bypass or on a country highway I drive 160 -180, then accordingly my average consumption is 9 liters. In the city I drive 60 -70 with Conder in the summer, consumption is 7.6. I was driving 350 km along the highway, feeling sick with 4 passengers and a Conder, the consumption was 5.9/100 km at 90-100 km/h. If you put 160 and above, then to the Crimea (500 km) the average was 8.5/100 km.

At speed it holds the road perfectly - the suspension is stiff, there is no sway, the car is knocked down - and this is on original tires... BUT!!! It is very sensitive to side winds, so be careful - it literally blows you off the road!!!

In principle, there are enough dynamics (if you overtake wisely, of course) and it confidently bypasses even downhill.

The chassis is very reliable, nothing has broken all the time and has not yet been damaged, but as I already said, it’s rough, and frankly, it shakes in the car on a bumpy road.

The sound insulation is also very poor, I can’t say that it doesn’t exist, but it is bad... The quality of the interior is basically normal and the plastic is the same as for a car of this class. There's not enough space in the back. The instrument panel is readable, clear and simple, everything on the driver's side is convenient and at hand. The trunk is very roomy. This is my review for you, my friends, read, think, and make your choice yourself... and also remember that everything in this life is relative - 3 months ago we bought a second car for the family - a Mercedes C200 CDI, and I will tell you that the Toyota is mine complete consumer goods in comparison... the Merc has sound insulation, and a soft ride - (900 km in one breath), and sound quality, and dynamics and consumption at 160 - 5.5 diesel fuel / 100 km.. you drive and get a buzz....
