“A robot is dangerous in winter.” Toyota Auris owner review

Review of Toyota Auris 1.6 16v VVT-i (2008)

He chose the right car: “...I didn’t have much experience with cars back then, and all the cars seemed the same to me... As a result, I decided to take... Toyota...”

“...after 1.5 years I have driven a dozen other cars of friends and acquaintances. Now I already have an idea of what it is and what they eat it with...” - I wonder how many kilometers he traveled, I doubt that there will be more than four dozen of them, and in such situations it’s funny to talk about some kind of “experience”

“...It feels like you’re sitting on the engine, it’s putting pressure on your ears...” - take a ride with auto industry representatives, for a little longer, and then talk about the level of noise insulation. Foreign-made classmates won’t run far from AURIS either, I know what I’m talking about

“...the box came out with its tugging. When a new passenger sits down next to me, I... feel ashamed that my car jerks like a trainee at a driving school...” - you are a trainee, and a poor one at that, if “... while thinking your thoughts...” you managed on a country road not even to understand what happened cause of the crash. Be careful with the pedals (and the steering wheel!) and be more attentive - the car will become submissive and begin to give pleasure in any driving style.

“...it’s terribly stupid...” - there really is a LOT of experience! If you are too lazy to click the left paddle shifter down one or two gears, press the pedal to the floor - I assure you that the AURIS will greatly and unpleasantly surprise those who want to “lower it below the plinth” when accelerating. If there are no “charged vehicles” at the traffic lights from completely different displacement “weight categories”, there is a very high probability that in the rear-view mirrors your rivals will quickly turn into small dots (checked several times)

There are no more crickets than other classmates (especially French ones, and let OPELE GROWERS keep quiet about quality).

The review is terrible?! Ride about five thousand on any C4, 306, CIVIC or ASTRA (and FOCUS is not much better). After this, AURIS will seem like a completely transparent aquarium!

“...new chips on the hood...” are found by drivers of even expensive cars if they do not use additional armor or films

About “...The trunk is just funny...” no need to la-la! All golf-class cars are not very good at this. Personally, after switching from PASSATa, I still can’t get used to it; with the proper skill, you can fit a lot of things.

“...The wipers... are shirking work...” - Only in winter does the right one require attention; even the original one rubs rather poorly, not to mention all sorts of frame-less analogues. My relatives serve 45-50 thousand km each, analogues wear worse and have to be replaced faster.

“...explosive plastic, thin iron, incomprehensible suspension, terrible robots, poor interior, saving on small things...” - the emotions of an eccentric blonde who thinks that cottage cheese comes from dumplings. He tested the “thinness” of the iron against the tree, leaving a soul in the body. The “unintelligible suspension” with decent ground clearance allowed him to go to the dacha where on the “classmates” he would have been forced to crawl, scraping the plastic bumpers and the bottom covering. ... "Terrible robots..." - technology in the hands of a savage - a PILE OF IRON!!! “...Poor interior...” - with cup holders, all kinds of lighting, three “glove compartments” and an openable upper plastic pocket, it allows you to easily transform it for transporting large items. I personally even carried a wardrobe from IKEA, etc. At the same time, he drove with the doors completely closed and did not stick anything out of the windows. “...Saving on little things...” allows a full-fledged spare wheel in the trunk (unlike the same VW)? proper packaging of the jack and balloon.

“...Inflated price...” - I personally at one time (2008) wanted to buy a GOLF, but not finding the opportunity to pay for even its completely depleted basic version, I was able to purchase a fully stuffed AURIS. I traveled 100 thousand in 2 years. warranty km, without straining the service and yourself with unnecessary claims. I agree that “...These cars are not created for pleasure...”, but this applies to the entire class, and not just to the TOYOTA AURIS. AURIS is worth the money. It is not universal, but one cannot say that it is too “for everyone.” Before AURIS, I had both auto industry copies and German cars. I haven’t driven less than 100 thousand km on each one (I drive in any weather and store my cars outside), so I can say a lot of good things and bad things about each one. It’s funny when people start sharing their “experience” after driving 15-20 thousand km in a year (and often having already seriously kicked their skates a couple of times). At the same time, such individuals on the road either “vomit” no more than 100 in the left lane, slowing down everyone who has the misfortune of driving behind, or try to pretend to be “speed racers” without turning on the turn signals, without looking in the mirrors, hanging from others’ rear bumpers, killing the suspension on potholes, starting from a parking lot without warming up, they will force the engine, etc. Then we read their snot about the unreliability and capriciousness of cars. Change the gasket between the steering wheel and the seat, or remember the saying of an Indian chief from an anecdote: “Do you want to get married? Go to the forest and gain experience!”

Are you tired of pitting European, American, Asian and other Japanese manufacturers against each other (these corporations have been international for a long time!).

"…All goes to good. Auris cannot be restored, and I will never again..."

- We should feel sorry for you, or what? Dear you are our “car lover” :)

Review of Toyota Auris 1.6 VVT-i (2011)

Good day everyone. I’ll write back, although I haven’t planned to do so yet, maybe the review will help someone in choosing a car, most likely my writing won’t be of more use for now.

Suddenly some money appeared, and although I didn’t want to sell my car yet, there was a worm in my head and always ready.

Again the question is what to take. I wanted a new one, I could afford it for the first time. As always, I want a bigger car, but this is only a used one. I looked at a couple of SUVs with scuffs and scratches and went back to the showrooms, a new car is a new one. I couldn’t handle crossovers at all, well, don’t even take a Skoda Yeti on a 1.2 stick without a radio. I decided - “golf class”.

I looked at everything and took the Auris. Why - it was available, the automatic is normal now, I drive mostly around the city, our roads are good, but sometimes to avoid traffic jams you need to wander through the yards, that's why ground clearance was needed. Well, no, no, the clearance, they say, should be in the head. And I also fell for the brand, which seems to be reliable (we’ll check). You must always be on wheels, although the mileage is short, but the car must be ready around the clock (this is the job). For this purpose, I even thought about taking a second one, well, like when one is under repair there or somewhere, you can drive the second one, but I figured that it would be better to take a taxi then.

Now to the point, I have had zero maintenance so far, I liked the service, polite, fairly fast, free. The odometer shows 900 km.

I will compare everything with the previous car - Opel Corsa, they are not so different in class.

Appearance is normal, everything is quite harmonious.

Interior: high-quality materials, everything fits well, gaps are minimal, everything is simple, but tasteful. Let's talk about ergonomics, I don't like everything. The seat heating buttons are in the handbrake area, I understand that it’s cheaper, but it’s inconvenient, the armrest is somewhere far behind for me (I sit close to the steering wheel), the control of the mirrors under the left knee on the panel is also not great, you don’t use it often, but it’s still on "Opel" was more convenient.

There is enough space in the cabin for me, I got comfortable behind the wheel right away, there are a lot of adjustments. The width is fine. There is also enough space for children in the back (one is 180 cm tall). The trunk is not that small, shallow in depth, in the Opel there was a convenient underground, there was oil, tools, all sorts of little things, there is an organizer above the spare tire, but you can’t put much there, but I don’t carry a lot in the trunk - it’ll do.

There are crickets, maybe only in winter, of course, it’s unpleasant, there weren’t any in the Opel.

The noise is definitely better than in the Corsa, the only thing is the wheel arches - you can even hear the sand flying from the wheels, but oh well.

The microclimate here is a complete delight, after a cold Opel it’s sugary, 5 minutes at idle at -20 - it’s already warm, the windows come off well, and the operating temperature of the engine also quickly returns to normal values. Conder hasn't tested it yet.

Suspension: in my opinion, it’s a bit harsh, especially when driving on the highway on waves, your head just shakes, speed bumps also shake out your whole soul. True, it’s probably impossible to break through such a suspension anywhere.

Handling: again normal, I expected more considering the stiffness of the suspension, but oh well, not a racer. 124 hp just shoots after the Opel was vomiting all the way, even taking into account the automatic (the Opel was on a stick), you can sometimes drive it, but is it necessary, the city is not a place for racing.

The headlights are just good, no frills, I won’t install xenon for sure.

Well, that's basically it.

There is only one problem, maybe someone can tell me what it is, the service team shrugged it off. When switching the automatic transmission after frosts of -30 (I always warmed it up before driving for at least 15 minutes), a barely audible sound like “yiu” appeared from 1st to 2nd and it seems that the switching began to slow down a little, but this is subjective, and there was definitely no sound.

And I also think that if Toyota saves on little things, while raising prices to the skies, then soon there will definitely not be such demand for their product. After all, look, almost all of Auris’ competitors are 100-200 thousand rubles cheaper. At the same time, with similar configurations, they have a lot of baubles, such as rear ESP, PTF, rear armrest, etc.

All that remains is the vaunted reliability, but given the production's withdrawal from Japan, this argument may also fall away. If my unit starts to break down, it will definitely be the first and last Toyota.

Bye everyone.
