Cars 2021 - 2021 turned out to be unique, with a twist that is inherent in their appearance. The designers did a good job and the models acquired attractive features.

Review of the 2015 Toyota Aygo hatchback

In the middle of the last decade, as a result of the joint efforts of the PSA concerns (which includes Citroen and Peugeot) and Toyota, the world saw three compact cars - Peugeot 107, Citroen C1 and Toyota Aygo

. These models have proven themselves well, and the concerns decided to continue cooperation.

As a result, almost ten years later, new generations of these machines appeared. Now they are not so similar to each other and each of them has received their own original image. Perhaps the most unusual of all is the new Toyota Aygo.

Japanese engineers most likely looked for inspiration in classic Japanese cartoons, since the appearance of the Toyota Aygo 2015 emanates some “cartoonishness”.

The car attracts attention, first of all, with a huge X-shaped part that crosses the front bumper and hood and stretches close to the windshield pillars. It is worth noting that the panels of this insert are made removable, so the owner of the hatchback, if desired, can easily change them for parts with a different color shade.

The oblong, arrow-shaped headlights extend to the fenders. The massive air intake is framed along the edges with LED running lights. The wheel arches are wide, especially at the rear.

The wedge-shaped window line and spoiler add a dashing silhouette. The tailgate and rear bumper are always black, regardless of the color of the body.

The original lights are located in the rear pillars. For the first time, alloy wheels with a diameter of 15 inches are available for an additional fee.

The Toyota Aygo 2015 hatchback is built on the platform from the previous generation of the car, so the length of the wheelbase has not changed and remains 234 centimeters. But the total length of the car stretched to 345.5 centimeters. The width reaches 161.5 centimeters, and the height of the model has decreased slightly - to 146 centimeters. The new product, as before, is very light - only 900 kilograms. 3-door and 5-door body styles are still available, and an X-Wave version with a retractable fabric roof will eventually be offered.

As for the interior of the Toyota Aygo 2015, the quality of finishing materials has noticeably improved. A large number of bright decorative elements have appeared, which can also be removed and replaced if desired.

There is also lacquered black plastic in the cabin. Round air duct deflectors look stylish. The 3-spoke steering wheel, which is covered in leather in all trim levels except the base one, is slightly flattened at the bottom.

The steering wheel contains controls for the telephone and music system. The instrument panel is dominated by a huge speedometer backlit in bright orange.

In the middle of the speedometer there is a screen displaying data from the fuel gauge and on-board computer. On the left side there is a small original tachometer.

In more expensive versions of the Toyota Aygo 2015 hatchback, the narrow front panel is crowned with a 7-inch diagonal multimedia touch screen. This contributed to the fact that the number of controls for the climate and music system on the center console is minimal. They are all large, uncomplicated and easy to use.

The compartment in the front console, pockets in the door panels and the glove box have increased in volume. Now all versions of the Toyota Aygo 2015 hatchback have height adjustments for the driver's seat and steering column.

The soft front row seats have become more comfortable and have integrated headrests. In addition, the fit is now 1 centimeter lower. The central tunnel of the new hatchback has two cup holders. Thanks to the thin roof pillars, the Toyota Aygo 2015 offers decent visibility in all directions.

As for the rear sofa, it is more focused on two riders, and not too tall ones. And although the ceiling has risen by 0.7 centimeters, there is still very little headroom. The legroom for rear passengers has also increased slightly.

In addition, the luggage compartment of the Japanese hatchback has also increased: it was 139 liters, now it is 168. And with the rear sofa folded, the useful trunk volume approaches 750 liters. In addition, the loading opening is now 7.5 centimeters wider.

At the initial stage of sales for the new Toyota Aygo 2015, a single power unit is offered - this is a 3-cylinder one-liter gasoline engine with the function of variable valve timing VVT-I.

This engine has been upgraded from the previous generation model, but has undergone some improvements, thanks to which it now produces about 69 horsepower at 6000 rpm and approximately 95 Newton meters of maximum torque at 4300 rpm.

However, at low engine speeds there is often not enough thrust, so the engine must be constantly “twisted”. It quickly gains momentum, but at the same time it begins to make quite noticeable noise, and vibrations are sometimes felt. However, in comparison with its predecessor, the power unit has become quieter.

Acceleration from zero to 100 km/h occurs in approximately 14.2 seconds, and the top speed of the Toyota Aygo 2015 hatchback reaches 160 kilometers per hour. Gasoline consumption has decreased slightly: in the city – to 5 liters, on the highway – to 3.6 liters per 100 km. Over time, the Japanese automaker will introduce a more economical diesel version of its hatchback.

The 1.0-liter engine is paired with either a 5-speed robot or a manual 5-speed gearbox, which is not very accurate when shifting gears.

The new Toyota Aygo 2015 continues to focus more on comfort. The car has a fairly soft suspension (by Class A standards), so it can handle most road surface imperfections without any problems.

Compared to the previous generation of the model, the new model begins to roll less when cornering, but it is still very far from ideal cornering. The wider track size also contributes to better passage of winding sections of the road.

The turning circle of the compact car reaches only 9.6 meters. The steering of the car is now a little sharper. True, he lacks feedback, as before.

The Toyota Aygo 2015 hatchback in the initial configuration, called “X”, receives electrically adjustable exterior mirrors, electric windows, central locking, a music system with a USB input, six airbags and a number of electronic assistants. The next X-Pley configuration adds air conditioning and Bluetooth support to the above equipment.

The most expensive version of the car, called “X-Clusiv,” can additionally boast a rearview camera, climate control, cruise control, and a leather interior. In addition, for an additional fee the Japanese offer a navigation system and keyless entry.

The new Toyota Aygo 2015 hatchback is already available on the European market, where its price starts at 10,000 euros.

The interior of the Toyota Aygo is quite simple and ergonomic: the instrument panel is covered with durable plastic in dark colors, and the seats are made of practical fabric to match the panel. The control panel is concise and clear, all buttons and control levers are conveniently located. The interior of the car is complemented by a rear view camera, a 7-inch color touchscreen infotainment system, a USB port and an audio system with two speakers. The ride quality of the Toyota Aigo is directly proportional to the quality of the road surface, since the car’s suspension is not able to smooth out potholes while driving. The hatchback is equipped with a McPherson-type suspension at the front and a torsion beam at the rear. If you compare the ride quality of the Aygo with its competitors, it is slightly inferior to the Volkswagen Up.

The steering is not sensitive enough, responding best only at low speeds. But on the other hand, this has a positive effect when parking and other maneuvers while driving around the city. The hatchback handles well when cornering, and Aygo's body roll is insignificant. The visibility from the car is good, and you can easily notice small cars next to yours. When driving in the cabin, noise and vibrations from the engine are felt on the steering wheel and pedals.
