Wheels are a significant element of a car. The size and design of the wheel is an important component of the appearance of the machine. The height of the rubber profile affects the smoothness of the ride, handling, and life expectancy of the suspension. The grip properties of tires are the main component of safety. Poor quality tires will cause increased noise levels in the cabin at high speeds. Let's consider these characteristics regarding the wheels of Toyota Camry models V50, V40, V30.

XV50 factory casting parameters: Central hole diameter – DIA: 60.1 mm, fastening to the hub – nut, bolt pattern 5×114.3mm, M12 x 1.5 thread
- 16 – 6.5Jx16 ET45
- 17 – 7Jx17 ET45
- 18 – 7.5×18 ET45
Let us explain with help what these letters and numbers mean. The first number is indicated for better understanding. The first number after the dash (6.5, 7, 7.5) is the width, measured in inches; to convert to centimeters, multiply this number by 2.54.
J – informs the design properties of the wheel (type of disk flange), not important for buyers.
x - indicates that the disk is not separate.
16 – landing diameter, corresponds to the diameter of the tire.
ET45 – wheel offset, in the presented case is positive and equal to 45mm.

An important parameter is DIA (the diameter of the central hole in the Camry 50 is 60.1 mm), which must correspond to the seat of the wheel hub, measured in millimeters. If the DIA is larger than the hub, then use centering seat rings made by disc manufacturers.
bolt pattern (5x114.3) is the number of wheel fasteners and the diameter in millimeters along which the holes for bolts or nuts ( PCD ) are made.

There are officially two casting options for Camry on our market: R16 and R17. R18 wheels were offered by the manufacturer in North America.
Tire size XV50

- 215/60 R17 93V
- 225/45 R18 91V

Let's tell you what these numbers mean. The first three-digit number before the slash is the width of the tire profile, measured in millimeters. The two-digit number after the slash is the ratio of the height of the rubber profile to the width, indicated as a percentage. If the profile width is 215 and the profile height is 60, then 215x0.65 = 129 mm the height of the tire profile. The Latin letter R (Radial) means that the tire is of radial type (the radial type of automobile rubber has replaced the archaic diagonal). The two-digit number after R provides information about the tire diameter (rim diameter) and is measured in inches.
The last two-digit number is the tire load index, i.e. what load the tire can withstand within the speed index at the correct pressure. For Toyota Camry 50 tires, the load index is 93 and 94, these numbers indicate that each can withstand 650 and 670 kg, respectively. The last Latin letter is the speed index, the speed limit within which the use of tires is permissible. In the case of Camry, the speed index is indicated by letters from S to V. S – 180 km/h, V – 240 km/h.
The tire pressure should be 2.2 - 2.4 bar.
The smallest tires that will fit the Camry XV50 are 205/65R16, the maximum tire size is 225/40R19.
When choosing tires for a car, ask the seller or look at the tires yourself for the date of manufacture. Buy rubber no older than three years; after this period, it may begin to crack and lose its properties.
This is the date of manufacture of the tires.
Wheel size V40
The wheel and tire sizes of the XV50 and XV40 are practically the same. “Rollers” for the forty:
- 16 – 6.5Jx16 ET45
- 17 – 7Jx17 ET50
- 18 – 7.5Jx18 ET 45
Black V40 with good wheels.
The diameter of the central hole (DIA) is 60.1 mm, fastening to the hub is a nut, drilling Camry 40 is 5x114.3.
Offset (ET45) – the distance between the vertical axis of the wheel and the plane of the attachment point to the hub. The offset can be positive (most often), zero, or negative.
The manufacturer allows the use of non-standard “rollers” on Toyota Camry XV40 and XV50 with an offset of 40mm to 50mm.
Large and small wheel diameters have pros and cons. This happens because the larger the rim, the thinner the rubber profile. Therefore, when choosing R18 rollers, a car enthusiast gets excellent appearance and handling, but loses in comfort and suspension life. By installing “sneakers” of small diameter on the Camry, it improves the smoothness of the ride and the running time of the chassis, and at the same time deteriorates the spectacular appearance and handling.
Alloy wheel sizes for Camry 40
When selecting cast or stamped elements for the Camry V40, it is necessary to take into account the location of the mounting studs on the hubs (bolt pattern). The machines use 5 studs, symmetrically located on a circle with a diameter of 114.3 mm. To fix the wheel, closed M12x1.5 mm nuts with a conical part are used to ensure the centering of the parts.
When selecting disks, you should take into account the bolt pattern and the size of the central hole (60.1 mm). When using non-standard elements with a larger hole, adapter rings are appropriate.
Standard devices
Factory 16-inch parts are high-pressure die-cast from high-impact aluminum alloy. The mounting holes are machined, the surface of the element is covered with a layer of glossy varnish that prevents metal oxidation. The part has 7 symmetrical spokes, the rotation of which ensures cooling of the brake mechanisms and removal of wear products.
The central hole is covered with a decorative plastic cap with the Toyota plant emblem.
Main parameters:
- width - 6.5 inches;
- disc offset - 45 mm;
- drilling - 5x114.3 mm.
Non-standard dimensions
Parts with non-standard dimensions may be used on vehicles:
- Molded 17″ with 7″ width and 50mm offset. There are original parts that were used on Camry V40 vehicles supplied to the North American and Middle Eastern markets.
- The pieces measure 18" with a 45mm offset and a 7.5" width. The plant supplied cars with such discs to the North American market.
- Cast 19" with offset reduced to 37mm and width increased to 8". Manufactured by third-party companies, they are chrome plated and designed to use low-profile rubber. Before use, you must ensure that the wheels are compatible with the arches, since when turning or driving on uneven roads, contact between the tire and body elements is possible.
V40 tire sizes
Tires for Camry 40 are the same size as Camry 50:
- 215/65 R16 94V
- 215/55 R17 94V
- 205/45 R18 92V
Black beauty
The tire pressure should be 2.1-2.2 bar, measured in cold tires.
The smallest wheels that are installed on Camry 40 are 215/60 R16, the largest tire size is 225/40 R19.
When choosing wheels for a Toyota Camry, be guided by the tasks you would like to solve. If the main thing is the car’s appearance, performance and handling, then choose large R19 wheels. But be prepared that the smoothness of the ride will decrease, as will the service life of the suspension elements. If your goal is to drive comfortably, softly and protect the chassis, then R16 wheels are your choice.
Many car owners purchase large wheels and tires for the summer season, while winter tires remain small in diameter.
How to choose the right wheels and tires
Basic selection rules:
- The external dimensions of the wheel rim and the mounting size of the tire must be the same.
- The location of the mounting holes must match the position of the studs on the vehicle's hub. It is prohibited to re-drill holes in an aluminum element offset relative to the standard channels, since the mechanical strength of the parts is reduced.
- If the diameter of the central channel is larger than the element on the hub, then it is necessary to select a centering ring, which is made of plastic or metal. If the adapter sleeve is installed correctly, the running characteristics do not change. If vibration is felt when moving, you should check the correct selection and installation of the ring.
- When selecting a disk, it is necessary to take into account the maximum static load, which is not indicated in the marking. Information is available in the product passport or on the manufacturer’s website. Factory products are designed for a load of 690 kg; the use of parts with a reduced rating is prohibited. If this requirement is violated, the cast element may be destroyed when driving on an uneven road.
- When selecting custom parts, the X-factor should be taken into account when the element clings to the brake caliper or suspension. The factor depends on the design features of the disk and production technology. For example, there may be amplifiers on the spokes that do not interfere with installing the product on the hub, but will cling to the brake caliper when rotating.
- The standard tire size on a Toyota Camry is 215/60R16; the design of the suspension and wheel arch is not designed for the use of tires with a tread width of more than 225 mm. When installing non-standard wheels, 215/55 R17, 225/45 R18 or 225/40 R19 tires are used. Reducing the profile height allows you to maintain the outer diameter and ensures the correct operation of the speedometer (measurement is carried out by an electronic sensor based on the number of revolutions of the secondary shaft in the gearbox).
Camry V30 tire and wheel sizes
Unlike subsequent generations, the Camry 30 was equipped with R15 wheels. They are perfect for car enthusiasts who love a soft, smooth ride and save money; such “rollers” are cheap and protect the suspension.

Shoes for Toyota Camry V50: wheels and tires
Winter is just the time when you should think about buying rims and tires for the warm season. My car came with standard Toyota R16 alloy wheels and Yokohama tires.
It was decided to use these disks in winter. Additionally, I bought Michelin X-Ice North 3 winter studded tires. As for the noise, it is present when driving, but not at all big. Any tire makes noise. Let me say briefly that the purchase was completely justified, although today it has risen in price by 20 percent from the price at which I bought it in October 2014. The crisis and inflation are doing their dirty work.

Toyota 16R standard wheels
Looking through various thematic forums, I discovered that some Camry owners install as many as 20-inch wheels. There is no doubt that such a car looks very extravagant, but I am one of the drivers who try to stick to the factory parameters. Design decisions are still based on specific tests and accurate calculations, and it is not surprising that the wear life of suspension and consumables for cars with larger radius discs is significantly reduced. This is just my opinion, whoever likes it is not prohibited from betting, but it is not recommended either.
Below in the article I will give the factory parameters of wheels and tires. Perhaps it will be useful to someone. I was guided by the purchase of wheels and tires precisely according to these parameters.
Parameters of standard wheels Toyota Camry V50
Photo | Disc Width (inch) | Bolt pattern (number of holes and diameter in which they are located) | Departure (ET) | Diameter (DIA) | Original disc number in the catalog | Tires |
Toyota 16R standard wheels | 6.5J | 5 x 114.3 | 45 | 60.1 | 42611-33850 | 215/60 R16 |
Toyota 17R standard wheels | 7J | 5 x 114.3 | 45 | 60.1 | 42611-33860 | 215/55 R17 |
There are also standard 18R wheels, but they are produced only for Toyota Camry for use in the United States, and a variant of R19 wheels for tuning. Their parameters are shown in the table below. Of course, there are also various options for wheels and tires, but again, this is all at the discretion of the driver. I have given only those provided by the manufacturer.
Disk | Radius | Disc Width (inch) | Bolt pattern (number of holes and diameter in which they are located) | Departure (ET) | Center Hole Diameter (DIA) | Original disc number in the catalog | Tires |
only for Camry USA | R18 | 7.5J | 5 x 114.3 | 45 | 60.1 | 42611-06740 | 225/45 R18 |
tuning | R19 | 8J | 5 x 114.3 | 40 | 60.1 | absent | 235/40 R19 |
When choosing R17 wheels, preference was given to Silver color. There is no doubt that the presence of black varnish and polishing on alloy wheels gives it additional sophistication and charm, but I decided to refuse to purchase such wheels due to the fact that over time the black varnish and polishing lose their beautiful properties, and also begin to peel off and crack, especially in conditions our climate zone.
For my previous car, I bought just such wheels, with black varnish and polishing - but after the first winter season the wheels lost their presentation due to the effects of reagents and salt from the road surface. This option did not suit me. When choosing, I was guided by Replica Toyota wheels. I chose several options, photos of which I posted below. Friends, don't forget. that there are no comrades in taste and color - I chose it for myself, so don’t kick me too much
