How to change the fuel pump in a Toyota Camry Gracia

Algorithm for replacing a fuel pump on a Toyota Camry Gracia:

  1. It is recommended to disconnect the battery before further work.
  2. We have already reached the cover, now we need to remove it. I had it on sealant, no fastenings. Just pull the lid up and that's it. True, I couldn’t pull it, I had to pick it out with a screwdriver and lift it, but I repeat – there are no fastenings.
  3. Then you need to pull out the chip. It has a fastener that we successfully broke during removal, and now it can be removed without any problems.
  4. Because Our fuel pump showed absolutely no signs of life, so we had to check whether the voltage was reaching it. To do this, we turned the battery back on and, using a tester, found out that the voltage was reaching. The tester was plugged into different holes until we got ~11-12 volts at the output (in the photo the tester is at home, so the numbers are not what we need).
  5. Now we need to unscrew the bolts. They are unscrewed with a Phillips screwdriver or an 8 key. And the key was useful to us, because... The threads broke on 2 of them.
  6. Then you need to remove the gasoline hose. This is done by pressing on the clamps and applying a little force. Just be careful, because... A little gasoline leaks out of the hose.
  7. Voila, now you can remove the entire fuel pump structure.
  8. The fuel pump itself is indicated by an arrow. That's what we need to replace.
  9. First, we remove the chip (1), then, using pliers, we remove the upper fastening (2), and then, by pressing a finger (3), we move the fuel pump to the side and slowly pull it off.

That's all, we have the fuel pump from Toyota Camry Gracia in our hands, now we run to the store to buy a new one. But don’t rush to run to a Japanese store if you don’t want to overpay. All you have to do is go to the VAZ store and buy a Bosch fuel pump for tens or fifteen (to be honest, I forgot which one I bought). It’s also great for a Camry, but it has a different space for chips, so you’ll have to buy chips for it separately and replace the original ones. It takes 10 minutes and saves several thousand (compared to the original pump).

When you put the whole thing back together, make sure that the structure is sealed (it is not attached in any way). And when you tighten the bolts, be careful not to move this entire structure, otherwise gasoline will flow.
