Wheel rim bolt pattern: what is it, how to recognize it and compatibility tables


The size of the wheel group parts for a Toyota Corolla, as well as the tire pressure, must be known for your model during maintenance, seasonal replacement, wear and road deformations. It is easier for a car dealer to focus on the specified dimensions of the parts rather than on the presented wheel or make of the car.

Toyota Corolla 1.33 wheels come as standard with 15-inch steel wheels with 195/65 R15 tires. Other versions are equipped with other products - 16 inches and 205/55 R16 tires. Models with the “Comfort Plus” package are equipped with parts made of light alloys. This equipment is also used for the Corolla 1.8 Dual VVT-i CVT and Corolla 1.6 Dual VVT-i CVT models.

The 11th generation Toyota Corolla comes with a wheel set with the following parameters:

R15

Wheels: ET45 6JxR15 5x114.3 Tires: 91H 195/65R15

R16

Wheels: ET45 6.5JxR16 5x114.3 Tires: 91V 205/55R16

Disc legends include:

J - shape of the rim flanges; 6 - width in inches; 5x114.3 – number of holes for fastening and their diameter; 16 — landing diameter in inches; ET – disc offset; Reach is a standard value. Regardless of the design of the machine, the reach for a given model should remain unchanged.

What is wheel rim bolt pattern?

Any car owner strives to improve his vehicle by replacing its original parts with new, more efficient ones, improving the appearance of the car through tuning. Wheel rims also undergo changes, because their appearance and production method directly affect the overall appearance of the car.

Larger wheels look more impressive than the original ones. Improving the exterior of a car is a completely natural desire of every owner, but in this case it is important that tuning does not negatively affect the performance of the car. To do this, you should select spare parts that meet the safety requirements and technical characteristics of a particular vehicle. And we need to talk about an attractive appearance only after these requirements are met after installation.

If the required number of bolts can be determined by eye, then the diameter of the holes is much more difficult to determine in this way. This is the main difficulty of loosening.

How to measure the wheel bolt pattern on a Corolla

The seat dimensions of European Corolla wheels can be taken from the “Drilling of wheels” section. If desired, the bolt pattern of the Toyota Corolla wheels is measured manually. To do this you will need a ruler (calipers) and a calculator.

Drilling is calculated according to the formula:

PCD = S/k,

where k is a coefficient depending on the number of nuts, S is the distance between the centers of two adjacent holes.

Measuring the bolt pattern of rims

For convenience, parameter S can be measured not between centers, but from the edge of one hole to the corresponding edge of the other.

According to another method, to measure the bolt pattern of a Toyota Corolla 120, a 2014 Toyota Fielder NZE144 or another model with 4 holes, you need to measure the parameter S not between adjacent, but between opposite holes. In this case PCD=S. The seat dimensions of Toyota Corolla 150 and other generation wheels with 5 fasteners can also be measured using the second method. The resulting distance between non-adjacent elements should be multiplied by 1.051.

Disc size indicators

There are five main sizes, an error in determining which will result in the impossibility of installing the wheel.

These include:

  • number of bolt holes (LZ);
  • the distance between them;
  • diameter of the circle on which they are located (PCD);
  • diameter of the central (hub) window (DIA);
  • departure (ET).

The number of windows for bolts on passenger cars varies from 3 to 6. For trucks, this figure reaches 12-15 pieces. Togliatti-made cars have 4 bolt entries. The exception is the Lada Niva, the wheels of which are secured with five bolts each. The number of holes is measured visually by simple counting.

Toyota Corolla 150 wheels

E150 wheels

In the Toyota Corolla E 150 model, the wheel bolt pattern is made according to a pattern of five holes located in a circle with a diameter of 114.3 mm. The drilling of the disk has the already familiar marking 5x114. By the way, the term drilling is actually the technology of creating holes by drilling.

In the Corolla 150 model with this drilling, five types of wheels are available: 6JxR15 ET39, 6.5JxR16 ET45, 6.5JxR15 ET39, 7JxR16 ET45, and 7JxR17 ET45. Their width varies from 6 to 7 inches, and the disc size ranges from 15 to 17 inches. The offset is available in two options: 39 and 45 mm. All types have the same rim flange shape (J) and radial design (R).

Roller parameters for Corolla 150 are 6JxR15 ET39, 6.5JxR16 ET45, 6.5JxR15 ET39, 7JxR16 ET45, and 7JxR17 ET45.

Tires for 10th generation Toyota Corolla

For the Toyota Corolla 150, the manufacturer provides five types of tires: 195-65 R15 91H, 195-60 R15 88T, 205-55 R16 91V, 215-45 ZR17 87W, 225-45 R17 93V .

Tires for Toyota Corolla have diameter sizes of 15, 16 and 17 inches. The greatest variety in tire models comes from load indices, as well as speeds; all models differ in these parameters. But regardless of the listed features, the manufacturer recommends the optimal tire pressure of 2.2 atm.

What do the numbers mean?

  • R - Rim diameter (in inches);
  • J - Rim width (in inches);
  • DIA - Hub bore diameter (in mm);
  • ET – The distance between the vertical axis of the rim to the plane where the disc abuts the hub.

Note: This value may be zero, plus, or, when the disc is very inward, negative.

This parameter is very important, since if it is chosen incorrectly, the disk may not fit in its normal place, even if all other sizes are suitable. How to find out the disc offset is shown in one of the photos above.

Types of departures: negative, zero, positive

  • LZ – number of places for fastening the disk with bolts or nuts on a stud;
  • PCD is the diameter of the circle in millimeters, along the perimeter of which the mounting holes are located (this is precisely the bolt pattern).

Note: There is no place to see this size on the discs unless there is a shipping box.

You have to measure this size yourself, but doing this with a tape measure or caliper is inconvenient. It’s easier to use the calculation coefficients that we presented below.

As a last resort, you can simply try the disk on the hub and try to tighten the nuts (or bolts).

How to find out the wheel bolt pattern (PCD)

If the disk is not original, but universal, it may have double drilling - for example: 5*100/5*114.3. It can be installed on cars with PCD 5*100, and on cars with PCD 5*114.3.

The hub hole on universal discs is usually made larger - for example: 67.1 as for Mitsubishi, which has a bolt pattern of 5 * 114.3.

To put these wheels on, say, a Chevrolet with a 5*100 bolt pattern and a 57.1 hub, you only need a plastic adapter measuring 67.1*57.1.

Adapter rings (hub adapter)

These numbers correspond to the outer and inner diameters of the ring, with which you can change from 67 to 57 hub.

Learning to read tire and wheel markings

For example, consider the designation printed on the tires of the IX generation Toyota Corolla: 205/55 R16 91V.

The tire is of radial design (the designation contains the letter R), 205 mm wide. The ratio of height to width is 55%. To calculate the parameter, you need to multiply the width by 0.55. In this example, the tire height is 112.75 mm.

Wheel rim – 16 inches. Some people mistakenly believe that the letter R stands for radius and read the parameter "P15" or "P16" as a 15 or 16 inch radius. In reality, R with a numerical value is the diameter.

Tire and wheel markings

The tire index is 91, that is, each axle of the car should carry no more than 615 kg. Speed ​​class – V – the tire is designed for driving at speeds of 240 km/h and above. The numerical values ​​of tire coefficients and speed classes for Toyota Corolla tires are given in Tables 1 and 2.

On the Corolla disc you can find a code of the form: 6Jx16 ET 45 4x100 d54.1. Let's decipher all the parameters. The rim width is 6 inches, the disc diameter is 16 inches. The letters “Jx” encode the design features of the disk. The number of mounting holes is 4, their centers are located on an imaginary circle d100 mm. Disc offset (ET45) is 45 mm, the abbreviation ET means that the value is measured in millimeters. The last number (54.1) indicates the diameter of the hole in the center of the disk in millimeters.

How to measure the bolt pattern of a disc yourself

In fact, the need for measuring procedures rarely arises. The required parameter can be easily found out from the characteristics of a particular machine, and for any disk it is indicated on the product labeling.

But the designation of a used part may have been destroyed, so you will have to determine the bolt pattern using a ruler.

Measurements should be made with the greatest possible accuracy. It is very difficult, for example, to distinguish a 4x98 disk from a 4x100 one. It often happens that VAZ cars are driven with enlarged PCD rims, which is wrong and very dangerous.

Even if the wheel is centered more or less normally and does not bounce while driving, the lack of complete contact between the chamfers of the fastening bolts and the disk sockets causes high stress in the metal, wear of the holes, fatigue in the wheel bolts and a high probability of losing the wheel while driving.

There are two measurement methods - for an even number of studs and universal.

If the number is even, it is enough to mark the centers of the holes with the greatest possible accuracy and determine the distance between these centers for diametrically opposite bolts.

You will have to use a caliper; a regular ruler will give too much error. For example, on a disk you need to take the size between the edges of the holes, one from the inside, the other from the outside. Since the diameters of the bolt sockets are made with high precision, this will be the desired PCD.

The first Corolla rolled off the assembly line in 1966. Since then, the design of the machine has undergone many changes. The size of the Toyota Corolla wheels also changed.
