  • take a thin stick, bend the corner of the door, place something soft in the gap, insert a wire with a hook and pry either the central locking system or the window opening button (if the car is locked while running);
  • There is molding in the place where the glass disappears into the door. It is carefully pryed up and removed, as a result a gap about half a centimeter wide appears, from which there is access to the door rods. They pull the rod with a wire, and the door opens.

How to open a Toyota Corolla if the battery is dead?

Car owners share their experience: what can be done if the battery in a Toyota Corolla is dead. Let's look at different methods.

  • a tow truck delivers the car to a service station;
  • attach it to a lift in the workshop, remove the lower protection;
  • open the hood with special devices;
  • charge the battery.
  • pull the cable through the radiator grille;
  • prying the latch open the hood;
  • charge the battery.
  • install a jack;
  • unscrew the wheel;
  • remove fender liners and bumper parts;
  • stretch the wire with a loop to the “+” battery;
  • The battery is charging.

Attaching an electromechanical lock to the trunk lid

First of all, I found a place to mount the actuator; I didn’t want to drill holes in the trunk, so I screwed the actuator (solenoid) into the existing holes and bolts. I screwed the solenoid with only one self-tapping screw onto the mounting bar, and placed a piece of foam rubber between the housing and the actuator so that it would not dangle. Everything is held securely. I made the rod from aluminum wire, the rod that comes with the kit is too rigid, it is inconvenient to bend it. I lubricated the joints of the wire with CIATIM to prevent rubbing. The solenoid will pull the trunk release rod with the key.

The actuator works in both directions, both retracting and pushing, so depending on the profile of the trunk lid it can be placed in different ways.

Locking the trunk and glove compartment with a service key

By the way, I learned that if you turn the lock cylinder counterclockwise with the key, the trunk will not open from the passenger compartment. At first I thought that the rod had come off when I checked the functionality of the electromechanical lock, so this is a feature of the trunk lock on the Toyota Corolla. This is necessary so that if the car is taken to a service station, close the trunk with the key and give the service key to the servicemen, but the trunk will not open with this key. Although you can easily get into the trunk from the passenger compartment by reclining the back of the rear seat. The glove compartment in the cabin is also locked with a key.

Connecting the actuator to the vehicle's electrical network

I removed the electromechanical lock onto the bolt, to which I also screwed the fastening bar that comes with the actuator. I soldered the connectors to the wires, soldered the grounding ring from wire, somehow it costs a lot in the store, as much as 15 rubles, the traders were completely insolent. I didn’t buy it out of principle, because I know that on Aliexpress they cost pennies, I’ll order a whole set of connectors from my salary, you can choose many different connectors and terminals. I insulated all the connectors with heat-shrinkable tubes, which I purchased on Ali for 50 rubles for 4 meters.

Stretching wires through the car interior

I pulled the wire from the lock through the hole where the cables for opening the trunk lid and gas tank pass (wrapped with blue electrical tape). I removed the casing, although in principle it is possible to stretch it anyway, but I was preparing to replace the shock absorbers, I’ll write later what and how, so I removed the casing. At the same time I looked at what was going on there, it turns out there is still a lot of free space under the casing, it will be necessary to adapt it for something in the future.

Pulling the actuator wires from the trunk

Next, for the convenience of pulling the wire, I removed the side panel of the rear seat; it can be easily removed by unscrewing the bolt from below and pulling the side panel up. Next, the wire was pulled along the thresholds, while removing the decorative plastic trims.

Pull the wire further along the thresholds

Connecting and placing the control board for remote trunk opening from the alarm key fob

I soldered and insulated with heat shrink the terminals of the wires from the permanent positive, the wires from the alarm and from the actuator, everything is ready for switching our idea.

Everything is ready to connect

I placed the board behind the decorative overlay, there is plenty of space, I haven’t installed an open button yet, I still don’t like the design of the VAZ button, I’ll look for something more interesting, and I haven’t decided on the location of the button yet.

At the same time, you can take a closer look at how the electromechanical trunk lock is installed and secured; the wiring in the video is not yet secured as expected.

Rear 5th door won't open, need help

I purchased a 1999 Spasio. With a non-opening rear door. Is there any way to open it from inside without dismantling the floor of the car?

What doesn't open - is the lock jammed or the handle? If it's a lock, you can try squirting silicone grease into the key hole and then opening it.

There’s something wrong with the lock mechanism, the key is turning, and you can’t tell by the handle that it doesn’t open. You'll have to try something inside, maybe someone has come across this? Remove the trim from the bottom of the door.

Well, theoretically, yes, remove the trim. I don’t know how it is on older models, maybe it is attached purely from the back - then no problem. And if the fastening clips are on the sides of the door, then you can’t easily remove it with the door closed. Maybe try removing the side trim (around the window) first.

Side trims are not an option; you need to remove the main trim, but how to do this with the door closed is a good question. With the casing removed, you can reach the mechanism with your hand and be able to pull it. There is an option for a dog walker: they take a pear, slip it from the outside into the crack where the lock is and inflate it. Look for a YouTube video on how to do this.

All. I sorted out the trunk, removed the door trim from inside, there were about 20 clips there. Carefully sweating from the side, he took it off. Then I unscrewed the two bolts securing the lock hinge, they were not short, so I unscrewed them with a 10mm wrench without difficulty. Having lifted the back door, I removed the entire lock with the hinge, unscrewing 3 bolts with a 10 key. Well, then, having worked with the lock, I took out the hinge, cleaned it, lubricated it, and put it in place. Yes, and also the cable that is located in the door itself, which activates when you understand the latch handle in the lock, it was apparently stretched by 0.5 mm. What was also missing was that the lock would open and the loop would come out of it. I fixed it by placing a piece of wire under the stopper on the cable, having first bent it on the cable itself, and here they are + 0.5mm. The whole door works as it should.

You are right about the cable stretching. Once it was below -20, the car was parked at work. After work, I went into the car and for some reason tried to open the hood. I couldn’t do this, I pulled the handle in the cabin all the way, but the hood didn’t click, I thought, oh well, it always opened, maybe the hook fell off in the cold. Left in the garage, there is 0 degrees on average. The next day in the garage the hood opened.

Conclusion: The metal expands when used, and the metal cable in this case is stretched; a few millimeters are enough to prevent the opening of what is needed. In your case, it would have been easier to do it, drive the car into a nice warm place so that the lock on the door would warm up and everything would open.

Mikeken, but physics teaches that iron, on the contrary, contracts when cooled. Therefore, for example, they put retaining rings on the shafts while they are hot, and then they cool down and sit as if welded. Water expands when it freezes, but this is a special anomalous case.

Perhaps yes, apparently there is another similar process, but somewhere here there is an explanation why in the cold it is not possible to open something that opens with cables.
