Toyota Fortuner trunk - dimensions, photos, advantages and disadvantages

The new Japanese jeep is positioned by the company as a true SUV. However, many potential buyers have concerns about the trunk capacity of the Toyota Fortuner.

Yes, it has a powerful Heavy Duty frame, all-wheel drive implemented according to the Part-time scheme, as well as impressive ground clearance. However, conquering off-road conditions is by no means the only task of the car, which, by the way, is a seven-seater and has three rows of seats.

The dimensions of the trunks are taken using control points, which have an individual location for various modifications of the car; in most cases, their location on the drawings is as follows:

  • A: top left corner;
  • B: top right corner;
  • E: inseam to the far left (bottom corner);
  • D: Inseam to the far right (bottom corner).

Installing an electric drive for the trunk

In order to install the drive, we need:

  • Solenoid - 1 piece;
  • Wire – approximately 5 meters;
  • Relay + block;
  • Insulating tape;
  • Terminal;
  • Several clamps.

Having purchased all this, we can proceed directly to installation. First of all, we remove all the trim - silver decorative inserts, the dashboard visor - all the parts are snapped on, removing them is not difficult.

Next we need to unscrew and remove the dashboard. To do this, we need to unscrew two screws on top of the dashboard, and then carefully pull it towards ourselves. Disconnect the wires and set the dashboard aside. The photo shows the final result.

Next, we need to get to the alarm unit and pull it out towards us. We need to find an 18-pin header. It is in it that the wires of the additional channels that we need are located.

Next we need to find the yellow-black wire, which is intended for the trunk lock. It won't be difficult to do this. If you don’t find it, pay attention to the bundles with insulating tape - perhaps it was wrapped inside when installing the alarm.

After the wire is found, we take the relay, block and instructions for the installed alarm. The found wire must be connected to the relay leg 86, which corresponds to the yellow wire on the relay block. This is not difficult to do; everything is clearly demonstrated in the photograph.

Now we need to connect the power. To do this, we find a wire, as a rule, it is red and serves as power for the alarm - it comes directly from the battery. It is best to crash into the fuse on the line. Thus, we take out the fuse, disassemble the connector housing, and screw our wire to the red one, from the side of the main unit. Then we reassemble the housing and insert it back. The white wire shown in the picture will go to power the relay. It needs to be connected to the black ones on the relay block - numbers 85 and 87. Thus, we will provide power to the relay itself.

We run a wire with relay leg 30 to the solenoid, the red wire is in the block. It is with this wire that you need to connect the one that goes into the trunk. So, having sorted out the wiring under the dashboard, we fasten everything and lay out the wires - we do everything in a way that is convenient for you personally, we attached it with insulating tape.

Now we pull the wires into the trunk. To do this, remove the door sills, the rear seat and run the wire to the solenoid.

Next, we go to the trunk and remove the trunk lid trim; this is not difficult to do, so there is no need to explain much. We pull the wire through the cover fasteners, as indicated in the photo.

So we ran the wire into the trunk - nothing complicated. Now we connect the solenoid, if it works, we put everything back together. The dashboard, all the sills, trim, not counting the trunk of course. Here we need to install the solenoid. We fasten the solenoid using a measuring strip, saw off the unnecessary part so that it does not interfere with us, and fasten everything in place. Let's check that everything should work. We install the casing back.

This completes the automation installation process. As for the grids, everything is actually very simple here, we just need to buy a grid for the model we need in a car store and install it in its place. It looks approximately the same as in the photo.

It is attached to standard fasteners provided in the trunk of a Toyota Corolla. You can also install side pockets; some nets are sold in sets. This is very convenient and allows you to use trunk space more efficiently.

Toyota Corolla 150 gearboxes

In 2010, the Toyota Corolla in the E150 body was modified in terms of some technical characteristics, interior and exterior of the car. Cars with a six-speed manual transmission or 4 automatic transmission were supplied to the Russian market.

Some Toyota Corolla models back in 2008 were equipped with a robot transmission. But the work did not suit car enthusiasts. Frequent complaints led to the transfer of the Corolla to an automatic transmission.

The robot was no longer installed on the restyled Corolla E150 models.

The technical characteristics of the automatic Toyota Corolla differed from the manual transmission in 2008, with slightly increased fuel consumption per hundred kilometers.

General information about the luggage compartment of the Toyota Corolla

All generations have a front engine (longitudinal or transverse). The rear wheels are driven, but since 1983 front-wheel drive has been used. The cargo compartment is located at the rear of the machine and is closed with a steel lid or a lift-up door with glass. The manufacturer does not use folding hinges with shock absorbers. When the sash is locked, part of the useful volume is eaten up by semicircular fasteners. Under the floor of the compartment there is a niche for storing a spare wheel and a standard set of tools.

The side walls of the compartment are covered with covers made of synthetic materials with ventilation slots. Since the mid-80s. a rear seat with a folding backrest is used, which allows increasing useful volume by reducing the number of passenger seats.

The low opening line reduces the effort when loading heavy objects. All cars have a light in the trunk that automatically turns on when the lid is unlocked. To open the lock, a key or a remote electric drive is used (depending on the year of manufacture).

Early cars did not have luggage nets. Later, hooks and additional pockets began to be used. It is possible to increase the useful volume by installing the trunk on the luggage bars on the roof of the body. The weight of the load depends on the generation. Corolla vehicles are capable of towing a trailer, but the additional load has a negative impact on dynamic performance.

The Toyota Corolla can be used with a trailer.
