If you need to transport some large item one-time, the trunk volume can be increased by folding the rear row seats. In this case, the volume almost doubles and will be about 1100 liters.
The Camry trunk not only has a large volume, but is very convenient to use. First of all, the design of the luggage compartment has an optimal configuration - it is not only deep, but also wide. The luggage opening has a flat shape, making it easier to load bulky or wide items.

Electric trunk opening
On some models, this function is already provided at the factory, but there will certainly be car enthusiasts who would like to install such a system on their Toyota Camry themselves.
The automatic trunk opening system includes the following components:
- electric drive;
- two four-pin relays;
- push rod;
- system fuse;
- control buttons;
- control circuit.
The drive can be made in two versions: using magnetic plates, or using an electric motor (this type of drive is considered more practical in terms of durability). It is also worth paying attention to the way the system is controlled: using a button in the car or using a remote control.
When choosing control from the interior button, installation is quite easy to do yourself. In the second case, we advise you to entrust the work to professional auto electricians.
Installing an automatic trunk opening drive
To install the system yourself, you should immediately prepare special equipment:
- terminals;
- wiring (wire cross-section 1mm);
- fuse mounts;
- insulating tape.
First, you need to dismantle the plastic trim inside the trunk (fastening with bolts and clips), then proceed to dismantle the old lock and install a new one or a modified old one (the standard lock in the Camry 40 needs to be modified by bending one tooth).
After this, electrical wiring is laid (before installation, do not forget to remove the terminals from the battery) to provide power to the system. The most convenient option is to power it from the car's cigarette lighter.
You can get to it by removing the center panel (being careful not to damage the trim).
We install the opening control button in a place you like (don’t forget to think about convenience and ergonomics). The fuse must be placed in the part of the electrical circuit between the cigarette lighter and the button.
Replacing the trunk lid
There is nothing complicated in the process of replacing the trunk lid on a Camry. You should follow the instructions:
- First, remove the casing from the lid;
- disconnect the backlight and camera wiring;
- Unscrew the fastening bolts and remove the cover.
Installing the new cover is done in reverse order.
A common reason for replacing the trunk lid on a Camry after mechanical damage is water seeping inside. Of course, sometimes moisture getting inside is associated with damage to the rubber seal or rear light (in this case, the problem is solved by replacing these parts).
Toyota Camry XV70 2021
This ninth generation of the sedan, presented by the Japanese automaker, went on sale in 2021. This car is made on a completely new GA-K platform, developed within the TNGA architecture, which has a large number of advantages compared to previous models: improved sound insulation, increased body strength, low weight. This platform has great prospects and, following the Camry, the new RAV4 will be released on it.
The main idea of the architecture is to lower the center of gravity, as a result of which the unification of all components was achieved and the arrangement of components and assemblies was changed. The suspension was changed - instead of torsion bar mechanisms, coil springs were installed on the rear axle. This in turn made it possible to increase the usable volume of the luggage compartment.
The overall dimensions of the Toyota Camry have changed, increasing by 15mm in width, and the car has dropped 50mm lower. To increase visibility, the hood line has been lowered by 40mm. Final dimensions of Toyota Camry 2018:

For the basic package, which includes all the necessary equipment and functions, you will have to pay at least 1,200,000 rubles.
The starting price of the average configuration is 100,000 rubles higher, and the only additions that can be noted are a more powerful power unit.
The Toyota Camry 2016-2017 model in the top configuration will cost the buyer 2,000,000 rubles. But, if you take a closer look at the equipment and characteristics of the model, then this is not a very large sum for a car of this level.
It is worth noting that each configuration has several more varieties, which also differ in engine type.

Toyota Camry XV55
This model is a restyled version of the XV50 sedan, released in 2011. Restyling was carried out twice - in 2014 and 2021. The main changes affected the appearance: a new shape of the bumper and radiator grille, a different location of the fog lights. A large multimedia panel appeared in the cabin; a 5-inch display was installed on the instrument panel, allowing you to quickly read the necessary information.
On more expensive trim levels, a long-awaited option has become available - a fully heated windshield; before this, it was only possible to order a car with heating in the rest zone of the windshield wipers.

Powertrains and transmission
The 2021 Toyota Camry cannot yet boast of completely updated engines. Three power plants were inherited unchanged from the previous generation, but a new engine also appeared:
- Four-cylinder engine - volume 2 liters, power 150 hp. The innovative engine is equipped with an electronic system that controls valve timing, as well as combined fuel injection.
- Four-cylinder engine - volume 2.5 liters, power 180 hp.

All engines comply with the Euro 4 environmental standard and are designed to consume 95-octane gasoline. At the moment, all versions of the sedan are planned to be equipped with a six-speed automatic transmission. The hybrid engine is coupled with an E-CVT.
The front-wheel drive sedan, as before, is based on a platform using MacPherson struts in the front suspension and a multi-link rear system. The 2021 Toyota Camry has a chassis setup adapted to Russian operating conditions, which will significantly increase reliability and ride comfort. The electric power steering has a variable torque adjustment system.
Toyota Camry XV50
This is the eighth generation of the famous sedan. Production of this modification began in 2011. The purpose of releasing this model was to relaunch the legendary model in the fortieth body. Designers and engineers did not want to radically change a product that was loved by consumers on the market, so the changes were quite minor: the weakest points were corrected, but the reliability and layout of the components were preserved, the base underwent virtually no changes to ensure the same smoothness and stability on the roads.

Prices and start of sales in Russia
The Japanese automaker is primarily preparing a new model for sales on the North American continent. The car will appear on the domestic market no earlier than the end of this year.
