The 2010 Toyota Corolla is one of the most popular golf sedan cars. This is a restyled modification of the 10th generation Corolla in the E150 body. Engineers modified the interior, body elements, and also added another engine. The model was produced until 2013, it was replaced by the 11th generation.

In the Russian Federation, 4 vehicle configurations with two engines were sold in showrooms. At one time, the cost of the poorest configuration was 642 thousand rubles, and the richest - 878 thousand. Today, you cannot find a new car like this in a showroom, but there are a lot of them on the secondary market, and at lower prices.

Exterior of Corolla 2010-2012

The appearance is attractive due to its rounded and smooth shapes. And solidity is given by modern optics and powerful bumpers. There are several features of the restyled model; the main differences from its predecessor can be identified:

  • The radiator grille is divided into two halves, with the Toyota emblem in the middle.
  • The front bumper has been changed, the size of the air intake has been increased.
  • The car received new rear-view mirrors, they became elongated and turn signal repeaters were installed on them.
  • In rich trim levels, updated R16 wheels with a pattern were installed.
  • The taillights have a futuristic appearance, with transparent elements in the central part.
  • The trunk lid has also changed, now it is divided into two halves by a chrome molding.

The restyled version of the Toyota Corolla 2010-12 fully corresponds in size to the C-class:

  • Length – 4545 mm.
  • Height – 1470 mm.
  • Width – 1760 mm.
  • Wheelbase – 2600 mm.
  • Ground clearance – 150 mm.

Weight ranges from 1300-1380 kg, depending on the configuration.

Main differences with predecessors

2010 is typical for the Toyota Corolla with updates:

  • appearance;
  • the entire cabin;
  • technical points.

It is impossible not to note the obvious changes in the exterior (restyling) of the new Toyota Corolla 2010, which were reminiscent of the Toyota Camry. Were updated:

  • the front bumper has become larger and equipped with an air duct;
  • the radiator grille has a new shape;
  • the headlights became completely new, which gave the car a frisky and lively look;
  • turn signal repeaters have become an integral part of the side view mirrors;
  • all trim levels boasted lightweight 16-inch wheels.

The technical characteristics of the model also did not remain unchanged: the car began to be equipped with three types of power units: 1.33, 1.4 and 1.6 liters.

The interior of the car turned out to be very presentable; the creators took into account the smallest details and did not add anything extra:

  • a new color scheme has appeared in the upholstery;
  • the quality of the upholstery has improved significantly;
  • At the client's request, it became possible to cover the seats with leather (Alcantara);
  • the shape of the steering wheel has changed, it has become flatter with a thicker rim, and control buttons have been added to the right side;
  • the devices began to light up in white.

The control system also boasted innovations:

  • the trunk button has found its place on the ignition key;
  • installed front electric windows;
  • rear electric windows were installed (in expensive trim levels);
  • The stationary audio system was equipped with outputs for AUX and USB cables, and Bluetooth became available.

The changes in the new model can be seen in the photos on the Internet.

Salon

Like any Japanese-made car, the interior is neat and of high quality. At the bottom, the steering wheel is slightly flattened, all instruments are covered with a small visor. At the bottom of the center console there is a narrowing on which the climate controls and the standard radio are located.

The front seats are comfortable, and there will be no fatigue when covering long distances. A large number of seat adjustments and good lateral support improve comfort. Three adults can easily fit in the back row.

Moreover, they will be comfortable, partly due to the fact that the 2010 Corolla does not have a central tunnel. Passengers in the second row do not have any amenities; there is only a folding armrest with cup holders.

13.12.2010
I spent a long time choosing a car for my wife. I've been driving Toyotas for a long time and respect them. The Corolla fit almost perfectly. But, to be honest, I couldn’t dare call her pretty. She reminded me of the face of unfortunate beauties after plastic surgery, when the bandages had just been removed. When I saw the photos of the updated one, the desire intensified significantly. I give the designers a 5+. It became at least clear what that surgeon meant. Well, that's not the point. The taste and color, as you know...

An honest 11.9% loan from TOYOTA Bank completed the defeat of doubts.

Now to the question of marketers. Apparently I will never be able to understand the logic of these people. I can forgive the “oars” in the rear doors, the cheap standard radio, etc. But the lack of a stabilization system IN ANY EQUIPMENT is, to put it mildly, annoying. Of course, I understand that you need to distribute the cars into different segments so that there is no internal competition for the manufacturer, etc. But BOSСH sells it to you for $200!!! And by the way, she saves lives. There is nothing worse than a head-on accident on the highway. And they often occur precisely because of loss of traction. I personally, without blinking an eye, will pay an additional 10-15 thousand rubles for it. I'm sure I'm not the only one.

And one more sad thing. I mean about the boxes. They have never been Toyota's strong point - not in terms of reliability - that's just fine, but in terms of advancement. Toyota is hopelessly conservative on this issue. It is generally accepted that the “robot” that was originally equipped with this machine was a failure. Of course, I'm very glad that it was replaced with a classic machine gun.

BUT WHY FOUR-STAGE? Everyone has had five or even six gears for a long time now! To hell with the Corolla. How did you decide to equip the RAV4 with a 4-speed mortar?

And finally, the last fly in the ointment. Heated seats. Why only two positions on/off?? Of course, I don’t pretend to have smooth adjustments like on Lexuses. But Hi/Lo is just what the doctor ordered. Hi - warmed up, Lo - drive all day. And then On and in a couple of minutes - your omelette is ready, sir! But turning these tiny buttons on/off all the way is inconvenient and unsafe, since both of them are located on the right behind the gearbox poker and it’s rarely possible to feel them without looking. And on the left in this place there is a plug. But why?

That's probably all that's unpleasant.

Hand on heart, I say that the car is great! Which is not surprising. This is the meat of Toyota sales. Engineers have no room for error in this model.

The 1.6 Dual VVTi engine is beyond praise! I give the mechanics a standing ovation. Excellent pull both from below and from above. This must, to a large extent, smooth out the long gears of the box. By the way, despite 4 steps, the box, oddly enough, still deserves at least a 4+ mark. The lack of fifth gear on the highway and the not-so-great desire to jump down when overtaking are most likely just my imaginary quibbles. Everything is quite expected for a machine gun from the 20th century. But in the city the gearbox behaves like a solid 5! No unnecessary kickdowns at the wrong time, when it’s too late to scream with the engine - the window in the next row has already been occupied.

I would like to end the alliance engine box with positive fuel consumption figures. On the highway computer showed 6.4, and judging by the gas stations, this is not far from the truth. I won’t write about city fuel consumption. It will be different for everyone. Based on my own experience, I can safely say that it depends on two important factors: the driver’s temperament and his honesty. Besides, there is strife between city and city. Some have avenues with traffic lights every 3 km. And some people spend their entire lives stuck in traffic jams.

Now about the suspension. In my opinion, an almost perfect balance of comfort and handling. I drove a Camry - it was too soft. Very rolly in corners. But it is understandable. It was made for the fat butts of hamburger and cola eaters. In fact, Russia is the only country other than the States where Camry is sold. Apparently no one tried to remake it for us.

I went for a test drive of the new Avensis. It is tough. Especially from behind. It's a pity. The previous “broom” was very pleasant.

So the Corolla is the golden mean. Moderately energy intensive. It steers great. Certainly not a BMW, but the handling is quite pleasant for its segment.

In terms of ergonomics, everything is for me. Maybe because I've been driving Toyotas for a long time. Or maybe just “Euromobile - 1 piece”. Nothing creaks or rattles in the cabin. The plastic, of course, could have been softer, but looking at the price tag, you understand that it’s normal. The seats are very comfortable. Nice lateral support. Of course, it’s a bit cramped in the back for three adults. But gentlemen! Have a conscience. This is a “C” class! The trunk deserves a rating of 4. It is quite roomy, BUT the lid hinges, of course, spoil the impression.

The budget option for restyling the rear lights is a little disappointing. Of course, I understand that remaking an iron trunk lid is expensive. But these inserts of white reflectors at the bottom on dark cars are like an eyesore. That's why it's just plain silver. By the way, the restyling of the American Corolla did affect this very trunk lid. The lanterns are already there. Again, a question for marketers: is it really cheaper for you to stamp different metal parts for different markets???

Managers claim that the ground clearance is one of the highest in the class. Let's take their word for it. Of course, in comparison with my Kruzak, this is hard to believe. Therefore, the next car for my wife is an SUV without any options. I am convinced that spinning two wheels on the road is wrong. :)

Good luck to everyone on the roads!

Technical characteristics of Toyota Corolla 2010—2012

Toyota Corolla cars with two engines were sold in the Russian Federation:

  1. Volume 1.3 liters and power 101 hp. With. Works with a five-speed manual transmission, gasoline consumption is 4.9-5.8 liters. A very economical option - both the consumption is low and the transport tax is low. This motor was installed in the basic configuration, which was in wild demand.
  2. Volume 1.6 liters and power 124 hp. With. Works with mechanics and automatics. Gasoline consumption with a manual transmission is 5.8-6.9 liters. With an automatic transmission, consumption reaches 7.2 liters of gasoline per hundred.

The trunk is not very large - its volume is only 450 liters. But if you fold the rear seat backs, the volume approximately doubles. Under the raised floor there is a niche for storing a full-size spare wheel or a spare tire.

It is especially worth noting the level of safety of the car - according to NCAP standards, the model passed crash tests and scored all 5 stars out of a possible 5. The Elegance and more expensive ones, which have curtain airbags and knee airbags for the driver, are recognized as the safest configuration.

General impression

I read the previous review, it was too categorical, and I, as the owner of a Toyota Corolla, could not pass it by. Well, first of all, I have a Toyota Corolla in the maximum configuration, with an automatic transmission, a 1.6 engine and xenon. I don’t experience any problems with it, I drive around the city just fine, I’m not in a hurry and the power is quite enough for me. The seats are also comfortable, in my opinion. They are probably designed for short people (I am 164 cm). Well, in general they shouldn’t be like chairs; after all, you should always keep an eye on the road and rest somewhere else. What I agree with is the quality of the paintwork: there really are a lot of scratches, although I only drove around the city . But I really like the Toyota Corolla itself. I like that there are many airbags, the steering wheel is adjustable, there are parking sensors, good visibility, it’s easy and convenient to park. In my opinion, for the city it is just a great car. And, of course, there is the question of price - there are better cars, but they are much more expensive.

Features of Toyota Corolla 2010-12 configurations

In total, 4 configurations could be found on the Russian market. “Comfort” included everything you need for convenience - central locking, radio, electric windows, headlight washers, immobilizer. The Elegance package included climate control (automatic), a multifunction steering wheel with audio system controls, and front fog lights.

The more expensive, the more prestigious the car. The top version is the “Prestige” version, in which all of the above was added with alloy wheels, various sensors (light, rain, parking sensors), as well as cruise control.
