First generation
The development of the new generation of Kruzak, as domestic car enthusiasts call it, began in 2002 and lasted almost five years. This modification was supposed to replace the Land Cruiser 100. The predecessor “worked” for ten years on the market and was discontinued in 2008.
Second generation
The presentation of the European version of the “200” took place in the northern capital of Russia, St. Petersburg, in 2007. The new model was superior to the previous one in size, technical equipment, including off-road driving modes.
In 2012, the model was restyled. One of the engines was replaced, there was a cosmetic update to the appearance and interior of the cabin. Three years later, the company made another minor change, which also affected the exterior of the SUV, a new eight-speed automatic transmission appeared.

Solid wheels elevate the car above the rest and make you feel respect for it. The massive embossed hood, large radiator grille with chrome trim, and huge arches over the wheels are impressive.
The glass area of the cabin provides an excellent overview of the surrounding environment to the driver and passengers of the cabin. The road surface is perfectly illuminated by powerful headlights of a slightly modified shape in combination with small “foglights”. The Kruzak couldn’t do without fashionable LED illumination. It is available in various configurations. The side and rear body parts are not much different from those of the previous generation, they have only increased in size. The stern received modified lights.
The roof of the jeep has retained its relief profile. In addition to roof rails, it has an electric sunroof. Its logical conclusion is a sports spoiler that covers the glass of the rear door from road dirt and precipitation. The car, in accordance with the fashion trend, has become more streamlined, but is still strikingly different from the elegant inhabitants of city streets. Before us is still a venerable overall conqueror of any type of road.

The new Kruzaks differ only in their body kit and air suspension, but my heart wants a new one with 0 mileage, the smell of a new interior where a fly hasn’t “sat”, while I’m staring at the new Lesus 570, but my mind says, why? You have everything, and the rest is show-off. But he enters into dialogue, the heart says, show-off is more valuable than money. Considering the old owner’s testament that pits do not exist for a corn farmer, having driven 30,000 km, I firmly believe that there are no pits.
First: if you want to buy such a car, immediately prepare 230-240 thousand per year only for tax and insurance, respectively, about 50,000 tax, about 200,000 CASCO, I’m talking about Moscow. At the same time, I don’t count the cost of gasoline, and they are also not cheap. The consumption on this car never falls below 28-30. On the highway it may be less, but not significantly.
The ergonomics of the interior are a C grade: the plastic is very inexpensive (to put it mildly), the other materials are not very good either. The dust on the driver's door handle has started to wear off. The front seats are uncomfortable due to the short cushion. With a mileage of about 8,000 km, I noticed a crease on the seat, tried to smooth it out, but it didn’t work; when I sat, I felt it was already in the way.
I went to the dealer and it turned out it was an illness. The foam lining with built-in heating is rolled into a tube. The upholstery was replaced under warranty. The price for ordering an outfit is 48,000 rubles (for those interested). I've never had anything like this on any car.
Land Cruiser 200 is a very successful car: a beautiful, reliable, slightly thoughtful friend! During the three warranty years, only the chrome was changed (under warranty) and that’s it! Did you make ceramics every spring? removes cobwebs. I changed the engine oil every 5,000 km, I don’t even know if this helps the engine or not.
The consumption for such a heavy car is quite reasonable 13-15 liters in the city, the highway is less, I won’t lie, the on-board computer showed 9 liters, though! The headlights shine very well, but they dazzle oncoming cars, I had to turn off the lights and drive on the lights, later I asked the dealer to adjust the lights at the stand, but everything remained as it was. Selling after three years of ownership.

The restyling affected the optics, the radiator grille, the shape of the bumpers, the relief and other details. The dimensions and shapes of the main elements remained untouched, which is why the 2021 Toyota Land Cruiser in the new body still remains recognizable.
The front part has been updated the most. It still takes on a rectangular shape, is large in size and is located at a decent height, which does not allow short drivers to move normally in a car and assess the situation on the road.
The body kit is separated from the main part of the bumper by a thin strip of bodywork. Most of the space on the body kit is occupied by an additional air intake grille, which has a polygonal shape. It is also trimmed with a chrome line along the perimeter, and inside it there is a very large mesh. At the edges of this grille there are small round fog lights. The body kit also has protective elements that are made of metal.
From the side, the large SUV remains virtually unchanged. Still a lot of space here is occupied by windows, assembled into a long and wide rectangle. Wide stripes, made only in black gloss, are responsible for framing and separating the glass. On the doors of the car you can see a bunch of smooth transitions in height, as well as chrome handles. The lower part of the TLC 200 is complemented by the same relief, huge square wheel arches with small extensions, a chrome decorative strip above the sills and running boards that simplify access to the interior.
The appearance of the rear of the car has not changed much either. Still, it is completely located at right angles to the road. Also, most of the space here is devoted to the luggage compartment door. It will be filled with a solid visor on which the brake lights are located, a large window, branded overall optics, which have huge dimensions and a rectangular shape, chrome inserts and nameplates, as well as a bunch of relief, both stepped and wavy.
The body kit protrudes slightly outward and is a step that simplifies access to the trunk. You can also find fog signals and protective elements on it. Many parts, such as the exhaust system, towbar, towing eyes and spare wheel are located under the body.

Big changes will also occur inside the car. Many fans of the car always thought that it had too simple multimedia for its status - now this situation has been corrected. The new body of the 2021 Toyota Land Cruiser 200 will boast premium finishing materials such as genuine leather, wood and metals. The appearance of the dashboard has seriously changed. Now most of the space on it is occupied by a massive touch monitor, which is placed vertically. It is with its help that the bulk of the options will be configured. On the sides of it there are neat deflectors, and on the left you can see the engine start button.
A little below the screen there is a climate control panel, which includes both analog and touch elements. As before, the tunnel here is located at right angles to the dashboard, and most of it is reserved for the technical panel. Also here you can find cup holders hidden under a special flap, and a large high armrest, which hides a huge glove compartment with a cooling system for the contents.
The seats deserve special words of praise. They will be finished only with genuine leather. There is also a bunch of additional functionality here. The front row is equipped with heating, ventilation, electrical adjustments and lateral support. The second row has a reclining backrest, heating, ventilation, climate control, separate multimedia and an armrest. For the third row, only heating and organizers are prepared.

Interior
It's also hard to find revolutionary changes inside the 2021 Cruiser 200's cabin. The interior is still dominated by a huge dashboard, decorated with a large display of the multimedia system. It is simultaneously framed by large deflectors of the ventilation system, finished, like many other elements, with silver-look linings.
The updated multifunction steering wheel has “lost” several control buttons compared to the pre-restyling version. They have been replaced by useful assistance systems. Another information block is located directly in front of the driver. On it, between the tachometer and speedometer, there is an on-board computer display.
The chairs are decorated with various (depending on the configuration) high-quality materials. In the basic version it is a pleasant fabric, in more expensive versions it is soft leather.
The salon has retained excellent spatial volume, especially in the front part. Potential buyers are offered a choice of five- and seven-seat body styles. Moreover, there is enough space between the rows for a comfortable trip. However, the seven-seater body significantly limits the size of the luggage compartment: it is reduced to 259 liters.
The luggage compartment in the standard position has a volume of 909 liters. When the rear row of seats is transformed into a five-seater version, its space more than doubles.
Exterior
Instead of LED “bags under the eyes” with lowered glazing, the company installed new headlights, placing them lower. The radiator grille, framed by a bright chrome rim with solid struts, underscores the new look. The result is a much sleeker and more modern look than the Asian style of the previous model, as seen in the photo. In addition to the complete redesign of the front end, there's also a hood with sheet metal lowered in the middle, which Toyota says should improve forward visibility.
The fairly noticeable redesign of the front end also results in a technical increase in the Land Cruiser's length, which is purely related to the dimensions of the body and does not lead to any changes to the interior. The headlights are based on LED technology. Depending on the equipment level, the rear lights now feature LED illumination as standard.

As always, the Japanese took care of protecting their customers. The car is stuffed with various devices and systems that take care of human safety. Let's list the main ones:

The rougher the road surface, the better the Toyota Land Cruiser feels. Thanks to very good articulation and excellent suspension, it travels kilometer after kilometer without difficulty.
