The 2000 Toyota RAV 4 crossover belongs to the XA20 generation, which included cars with 3- and 5-door all-metal bodies (the Soft version with a soft roof was removed). The cars were supplied to the Russian market through official channels and imported from Japan, the USA and Europe. A simple and durable design allows many crossovers to remain in service. In 2021, some examples have been converted into expeditionary SUVs.

Exterior and interior design

After restyling, the new RAV 4 stood out with its modern, sporty shape. The engineers especially worked on the exterior design. The car is now equipped with:

In addition, the new Rav received a solid, powerful front bumper, so it looks very confident. It is complemented by various sharp, volumetric stampings, so the car looks very dynamic and aggressive. Just by looking at it, it immediately becomes clear how fast and comfortable this car is.

The 2021 Toyota Rav 4 is decorated with convex lines on the sides and concave details on the fenders. The door handles have a new look: they are located lower than before, with a slight slope. The driver receives keyless entry. The rear view mirror as standard is equipped with a black mounting leg, LED turn signals, automatic folding, electrical adjustment and memory.

The car can have not only a one-color, but also a two-color body version. The roof is dark blue, gray or black. Manufacturers offer a body in burgundy, metallic, blue, and pearl white. And also in olive, ruby, black or graphite body colors.

Thanks to the use of two colors, the conqueror of Russian roads began to look more strict and charismatic:

10. The interior uses white, burgundy, gray or black shades, but it is possible to combine them. You can buy a Rav with a black and gray or black and white interior.

The equipment of the improved Rav has been significantly improved. Various additional options have been added to the standard set.

The ground clearance width is 20 cm and the wheelbase is 270 cm. The Rav4 suspension in the new body was made in a standard form using MacPherson struts and springs.

1. Capable of accelerating to 100 km in 11 seconds, using only 7.6 liters of fuel.
2. Reaches a maximum speed of 180 km/h.
3. It has a luggage compartment of 577 liters.

The new Rav is equipped with:

• two-liter gasoline engine with 146 hp;
• 2.5-liter engine with a power of 180 hp;
• diesel 2.2-liter engine with 150 hp.

The power units are installed together with a 6-position manual transmission, a continuously variable transmission, and a 6-speed automatic transmission. The new Rav can have front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.

A hybrid engine with a power of 190 horsepower has already been installed on the new version of the Japanese Toyota Rav 4. The Japanese rush along the roads in this dynamic and agile SUV. The model in Russia will be available only with a gasoline unit.

Appearance

The exterior of the cars was created by Yasuhide Hosoda and Kevin Hunter, who worked at Calty Design Research Incorporated. The design was dominated by smooth lines, a large area of ​​side glazing and thin roof pillars improved visibility from the cabin. To equip the cars, steel or aluminum wheels with a diameter of 16″ were used, and arch protection around the perimeter was provided upon request. The spare tire was mounted on the trunk door, providing additional cargo space, but in a number of countries there was a problem with the theft of the spare tire by thieves.

Exterior design and colors

The body was equipped with massive bumpers made of impact-resistant plastic. The front facing included air intake slots and niches for installing fog lights. At the back of the bumper there was a window for mounting a license plate, offset relative to the axis of symmetry due to the spare wheel. The manufacturer used large headlights, and there were protrusions on the trunk lid that harmoniously complemented the vertical combination lamps. An additional brake signal was located behind the glass, and there was a plastic spoiler along the rear roof.

Several dozen colors were offered for the car; in addition to standard enamels, paints with special effects were used. The set of shades depended on the market and modification. Bumpers and plastic door shields were painted in body color, but light gray elements could be used on Australian and Japanese RAV4s. Regional versions had a number of differences.

For example, cars for the domestic market were equipped with a rear-view mirror on the front left wing, located in a streamlined plastic housing.

Interior

Echoes of biodesign were visible in the interior decoration. The instrument panel contained a panel with a tachometer located in the central well. In the middle there was a round plate with a block of buttons, an air conditioner control, a radio and air ducts. The instrument panel flowed smoothly into a massive center console with cup holders, gear selector knob and parking brake lever. Fabric or leather was used to trim the seats; the window buttons on the door cards were in separate casings, which were the housings of the speakers.

In the new Toyota Rav 4 2021, every detail is made with dignity. The manufacturer got rid of the previous shortcomings and corrected all the shortcomings:
