Photos of the future Toyota Land Cruiser 300 were circulating on the Internet long before the official premiere of the car. Therefore, when Toyota introduced its new all-terrain vehicle, I was not particularly surprised.
Why isn't the more common word "SUV" used? The concept boils down to the fact that, after all, the car is not only of lousy quality for spacious suburban roads, but also in the city it will be comfortable behind the wheel of a large five-meter car weighing just over 2.5 tons.
Of course, it’s interesting to ride. I drove a Land Cruiser 200, and the feeling was, to put it mildly, so-so. It’s not as soft as I imagined, it consumes tanks of gasoline, and in addition, you have to start braking a kilometer before the planned stop. After it, the Land Cruiser Prado felt like a comfortable passenger car, but I didn’t understand the cult of the “200”. Yes, the Land Cruiser 200 is healthy, yes, people fear you in traffic (or maybe they take you for a city madman), but there are zero emotions, the car was ugly and, in general, did not inspire. In addition, it is better not to venture into serious off-road conditions on this bus.

Therefore, it is very curious how the Land Cruiser 300 turned out; after all, the previous generation was presented in 2007. This is the same year that Apple released the first iPhone.
Review
The SUV is based on the new TNGA-F platform. The 2022 Tundra pickup will also be built on it. The body and frame of the car have become more rigid, thereby improving the passive safety of the SUV, while the weight of the model has decreased by 200 kg due to the widespread use of high-strength steels.
The overall dimensions of the TLC300 are the same as the old Land Cruiser 200: length - 4990 mm, width - 1980 mm, height - 1870 mm. The wheelbase is 2850 mm. The approach and departure angles are 32 and 26.5 degrees, respectively. Ground clearance (ground clearance) is 230 mm.

The body has become 20% stiffer, the frame structure has been retained, but this is a thoroughly improved GA-F platform for top-end Toyota and Lexus models. The body and frame also weigh less, saving about 200 kg. However, the weight of the all-terrain vehicle has remained almost unchanged: there are more electronics.
Options from the Toyota Safety Sense package are responsible for monitoring blind spots, traffic sign recognition, adaptive cruise control and emergency braking. A lane keeping function has appeared: together with the hydraulic power steering, the electric power steering also works, which more accurately drives the car in its lane.

I have no doubt that a car at the price of a small Moscow apartment will be successfully sold in our country and there will be queues for it after sales start.
The Land Cruiser's image of a "cool car" will remain for a long time: it is a large, solid and expensive toy. There are no Russian prices yet, but given how expensive everything is, most likely at the start of sales the basic Land Cruiser 300 will cost 6 million rubles, but in reality you will have to pay about 8 million rubles. As for prices, in 2008, the latest “200” at that time was in short supply and cost about 2.5 million rubles. Cars do not rise in price as quickly as money depreciates.
Grandiose changes in the Land Cruiser world are rare; a new body is always an event, and it will be so this time. If we draw an analogy with an iPhone, then the Land Cruiser 200 is an iPhone 2G. Now the Land Cruiser 300 is the 12 Pro Max. If there is simply a gap between iPhones in terms of technology, then there are still more similarities between the old and new generations of Toyota SUVs.

It will, of course, be funny if the “four hundred” continues this path of frame all-terrain vehicles with a rather ascetic interior. Still, strong and large cars will always be needed in this world. And these dimensions are very impressive: length is 4985 mm, width is 1980 mm, wheelbase is 2850 mm. Despite this, many note a lack of space in the second row of seats, and this situation could be corrected by the long-wheelbase version, which is available in some of the model's competitors (at least in those markets where Sequoia is not sold) - Chevrolet Suburban (long Tahoe), Cadillac Escalade ESV, Ford Expedition MAX, Lincoln Navigator L.
The SUV shown in the renderings has a significantly increased wheelbase, as well as a longer rear overhang. This allows not only to make the second row of seats more spacious, which is now easier to access due to the wider doorway, but also to place the third row more freely, and also to significantly increase the volume of the trunk. In addition, the long-wheelbase version differs in appearance due to the design of the C-pillars (located behind the rear doors) and the modified shape of the rear side windows. The SUV will also receive updated taillights with an LED jumper between them, passing through the brand logo - a similar solution is used, for example, on the new hydrogen Toyota Mirai sedan, which was presented last year.
The Land Cruiser 300 is built on a ladder frame, which was made more rigid by changing the design. The platform was called GA-F and was included in the concept of the global modular architecture TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture). The model is equipped with two motor options.
