Good afternoon everyone!
The problem turned out to be on an LC 200, diesel V8, model year 2011, mileage 110,000 km. It started smoking and began to idle unstably, and oil consumption increased. Check VSC System light came on. The cause was determined: the injector in cylinder 8. Replaced. After a test drive for 20 km, the CHECK light came on again, it turns out that the result is zero! Has anyone encountered a similar problem? Respond! Working areas of sensors

PCS is a Pre-Crash Safety System, which is implemented on Toyota and Lexus cars. On cars of other brands, a similar system may have a different name, but their functions are generally similar. The system's task is to help the driver avoid a collision. This feature operates by sounding an audible signal and displaying a signal on the instrument panel when the PCS system detects a high likelihood of a frontal collision with another vehicle. In addition, if a collision cannot be prevented, it forcibly applies the brakes and tightens the seat belts. A malfunction in its operation is indicated by a warning lamp on the dashboard. To understand the possible causes of the PCS error, you need to understand the operating principle of the entire system.

“TRC OFF” light on Toyota: How to solve the problem with traction control

Car owners often notice that the “TRC On” light is on. This is traction control. What this feature protects against and controls on modern cars, as well as what to do if “TRC Off” lights up, the reader will find in this article.

The traction control system first appeared in 1971 in America on such famous cars as Cadillac and Buick. It began to be used on luxury cars of the German brand Mercedes since 1987. After the 2000s, manufacturers began to include TRC in every car.

What is TRC

Many car owners notice that the “TRC On” light comes on on various Toyota modifications. But not everyone knows what it is.

TRC translated from English means “Traction Control”. Speed sensors monitor wheel speed and the system uses measures to reduce traction. The first modifications of cars reduced traction by reducing engine speed. Modern vehicles reduce speed using a special viscous coupling.

If the “TRC On” lamp is on, this means that the wheel slip and skid control system is turned on. In Toyota, this system monitors and mitigates skidding and slipping. Although it was originally created only as anti-skid.

The TRC system works as follows:

  1. Sensors monitor wheel speed. The signals are sent to the ECU (electronic control unit) .
  2. If the device detects an increase in speed, it transmits a signal to the actuators.
  3. Special automatic TRC valves block the movement of wheels that begin to slip.

Thus, traction control protects the driver and the car from creating emergency situations on the roads.

Attention! On cars of the Toyota Avensis, Auris and many other brands, there is a button on the dashboard called “ TRC Off ”. It allows you to disable traction control.

Additional Information

In order for the PCS system to work properly, it is necessary to take preventative measures that will allow the sensors to function normally. For radar sensor:

Example of radar sensor location

  • always keep the sensor and car emblem clean, if necessary, wipe them with a soft cloth;
  • do not install any stickers, including transparent ones, on the sensor or emblem;
  • do not allow strong impacts on the sensor and radiator grille; in case of damage, immediately contact a specialized workshop for help;
  • do not disassemble the radar sensor;
  • do not change the structure or circuit of the sensor, do not cover it with paint;
  • Replace the sensor or radiator grill only at an official Toyota representative or at a service station that has the appropriate licenses;
  • Do not remove the label on the sensor stating that it complies with the laws governing the radio waves it uses.

For camera sensor:

  • always keep the windshield clean;
  • do not install an antenna or stick various stickers on the windshield opposite the camera sensor;
  • If the windshield opposite the sensor camera is covered with condensation or ice, use the defog function;
  • do not cover the glass opposite the sensor camera with anything, do not install tint;
  • if there are cracks on the windshield, replace it;
  • Protect the sensor camera from getting wet, intense ultraviolet radiation and bright light;
  • do not touch the camera lens;
  • Protect the camera from strong impacts;
  • do not change the position of the camera or remove it;
  • do not disassemble the sensor camera;
  • Do not install devices that emit strong electromagnetic waves near the camera;
  • do not change any objects near the sensor camera;
  • do not modify car headlights;
  • If you need to secure a large load on the roof, make sure that it does not interfere with the sensor camera.

How to use the traction control system

Traction control works when sliding slightly and even where you need to drive a difficult section of sandy road off-road. To drive on country roads, manufacturers have placed a button on the dashboard that turns off the traction control.

By clicking on it, the car owner will be able to drive the car along difficult sections of the road where intensive acceleration of the car is needed, and not blocking the wheels. But drivers should be aware that after pressing the button for a while, it automatically turns off and the traction control system comes into action again. Therefore, it will have to be pressed several times if the car crosses long, difficult sections.

But it happens that the VSC and TRC lamp turn on together on the dashboard monitor. This indicates an error in the driver safety monitoring system.

VSC and TRC off errors

If TRC Off and VSC light up together on a Toyota Avensis, this means that there is a problem with either the wheels or the engine or the wiring has broken.

It is necessary to diagnose the sensor information through computer software. If the car owner is an experienced mechanic, then he can do this at home. If the driver does not have experience working with diagnostic equipment or a scanner, then it is recommended to go to a service station.

Attention! Experts and experienced car owners do not recommend clearing VSC and TRC OFF on Toyota Avensis or Auris by removing the terminal from the battery pack. If the problem was not a computer firmware glitch, it will happen again. and a minor malfunction will turn into a major overhaul of the entire machine.

On Toyota Avensis, the TRC Off and VSC lights usually light up as garlands. Check Engine light is added to these These are common mistakes that are discussed by owners of Prado cars, Toyota Progress NC 300, on specialized forums.

The problem appears at different times of the year. The intensive occurrence of the error is due to the cold weather during the winter season, to which cars are not accustomed and the computer may malfunction. But often Toyota's TRC Off lights up when the fault is in the car itself.

When VSC lights up together with TRC in a Toyota Avensis, problems can be:

  • with the engine, if the “Check Engine” light also comes on. Failure of the engine results in the following types of malfunctions that a driver without a scanner will notice: increased fuel consumption, decreased power when driving on flat terrain, difficulty shifting gears, sudden stops or jerking of the car;
  • damage to the wires going to the ABS sensors;
  • low tire pressure;
  • poor contact on the stops;
  • if the steering wheel has recently been replaced and calibration has not been performed.

Attention! Experts confirm that on Toyota Avenis and Auris, the lighting of the VSC and traction control lamps is a common glitch. It is recommended to check the connectors, wiggle them, disconnect them and insert them back.

How to fix parking sensor error

Another common problem with the Land Cruiser is parking sensors. This is a device that notifies the driver of the approaching obstacle: stone, curb, fence and others.

If the parking check light on the Kruzak 200 comes on, you need to check the following elements:

  • Wires. They may become pinched or even break.
  • A sensor that notifies you of an obstacle during parking. It may not be secured correctly.
  • Short circuit in the system.
  • Manufacturing defects.

To determine how good the Land Cruiser 200 parking sensors are, you need to do the following:

  1. Run the engine idle.
  2. Touch each sensor with your finger.
  3. If it is operational, it will begin to vibrate. If the device is silent, it is out of order.

Tips for fixing the error

What should a car owner do if the TRC OFF light is on:

  • if the scanner shows error P0037, inspect the places where the first or second lambda and the wires behind it are twisted and connected. Perhaps they frayed. Any rust or moisture can cause an error to appear indicating that there are problems with the traction control;
  • check tire pressure. A pressure difference of 0.3 mPa can cause the traction control and VSC lights to appear on the monitor. Approximate tire pressure is 2.4 atmospheres.

If the car owner is going to buy a sensor, then he must choose an original one. The non-original quickly fails, and the error appears again on the dashboard monitor.

If the car engine is running rough and the same errors appear, then experts recommend changing the coil on the spark plugs and cleaning the injectors. It is advisable to refuel with high-quality gasoline. Especially if the car was released at the beginning of the 2000s.

On Land Cruisers, Toyota Rav 4, these errors appear due to the old oxygen system. Experienced mechanics advise replacing it.

In some cases, mechanics at a service station can reflash the program in the electronic control unit.

When checking with a scanner, the following codes appear:

  • C1241 – low voltage in the network. Experts recommend charging or replacing the battery;
  • P1667 – VSV valve malfunction. It must be replaced and the error removed using a scanner;
  • C1201 – malfunction in the ECM system. This is the engine control unit. If the error lights up along with VSC and Check Engine, then the engine control unit should be replaced. It includes: printed circuit board, processor, flash memory. It is recommended that repairs be made only by professionals who specialize in repairing engines of various Toyota modifications.

If the car owner can delay indefinitely with other faults, then the problem with the engine must be solved immediately. Further delay will result in a complete shutdown of the vehicle and major repairs or replacement with a new engine.

Having been involved in car diagnostics and repairs for more than ten years, I have formed the opinion that Lexus cars are the most reliable cars. Breakdowns in Lexuses are extremely rare, but they do happen. Here are the most common reasons for requests from Lexus owners from my experience. You can also ask questions in the comments, I will try to answer.

  • In the first place are problems with fuel tank ventilation , symptoms of “check and VSC lights”, errors P044X. If your check light comes on and the errors indicate a leak in the fuel tank (fuel vapor leak), first of all, check how tightly you close the fuel tank cap; the cap needs to be closed a couple of clicks, it says so right on it. When you open the tank lid, there must be a hissing sound, which many people mistake for a malfunction; in fact, the absence of hissing indicates a malfunction. The tank is sealed and the pressure in it in any case cannot be atmospheric; it is always more or less, which is why the hissing occurs when the fuel tank cap is opened. The engine control unit monitors this pressure in the fuel tank using a pressure sensor, fuel vapors are collected in the canister and, during engine operation, at the command of the control unit, they are supplied through the EVAP valve to the intake manifold and burned with the fuel mixture. If you have doubts about the serviceability of the fuel tank cap, replace it; if the check continues to light up, you need to go for diagnostics. There is no point in delaying repairs, since a leaky fuel system is not good, as you yourself understand.

The second most common problem that mainly affects older Lexus RX300/330 is the VVTi system. Symptoms - check light is on or flashing, errors P1349 , misfires, engine pounding at idle. It is usually treated by replacing the VVT valve, but in some cases when replacing the valve does not help, a more complete diagnosis of the VVT system with a motor tester and disassembly for troubleshooting is necessary.

  • misfires, errors P030X , there can be many reasons for misfires, you can check the spark plugs and coils yourself. The check may flash when the ignition misfires. It may be necessary to check and flush the fuel injectors.
  • Oxygen sensors sometimes fail , in this case only replacing the sensors with new ones, no amount of washing the sensors will help, a malfunction of the oxygen sensors leads primarily to an increase in fuel consumption. The front sensors (in front of the catalysts) are broadband, replace only with original ones. Also, errors P0136 / P0156 do not always indicate a sensor malfunction; sometimes these errors are man-made. In this video, collective farm decoys caused errors in the rear oxygen sensors.
  • error P0171 - lean mixture , it happens for various reasons, on the Lexus RX330 the cause is wear of the damper axis seal, changes in the geometry of the intake manifold, it is very easy to check, when the engine is idling, spray carburetor cleaner on the damper axis, if there is suction through the seal, the speed will change . Treatment is to replace the damper. To replace it, you need to remove the intake manifold; the air conditioning pipes do not allow you to remove the damper in place. You may also need to diagnose and repair the fuel system, check the fuel pressure, pressure relief valve, or flush the fuel injectors. Video of measuring fuel pressure.
  • knock sensors, here the lack of fourth gear is added to the lit check and VSC, which is usually treated by replacing the knock sensors. To replace, remove the intake manifold.
  • catalyst, errors P0420/P0430 , check also lights up, VSC. The catalyst fails on all cars, regardless of the brand; the correct treatment is to replace it with a new one, but this is a very expensive option. We install electronic tricks that definitely work on Lexuses.

On this Lexus LX470, the “check”, VSC, TRC lights up.

Errors due to malfunction of both catalysts. To eliminate errors, we install electronic catalyst emulators p0420.net.

Of course, these are not all possible causes of a lit check and VSC, there are other errors and problems, but it is better to solve them after normal diagnostics, otherwise it will be a lot of wasted time and money. Questions can be asked in the comments.

VSC System: what is it on Toyota and Lexus

Tire tread wear, weather conditions, and incorrect driver actions are the reasons why a car can skid. The wheels lose traction with the roadway, and the rear part of the car is pulled by the lateral force to the right or left of the motion vector. Sudden movements of the steering wheel, emergency braking or disengagement of the clutch aggravate the situation: the car begins to spin, and when colliding with an obstacle (curb, snowdrift) or driving into a ditch, the car may tip over.

To avoid such a situation, engineers at the Japanese automaker Toyota have developed an electronic system that reads the readings of several sensors and helps the driver prevent the car from skidding. The system was called VSC System.

What is VSC System in Toyota and Lexus

VSC System (Vehicle Stability Control) is a vehicle stability system that helps the driver avoid sideways slipping of the car. VSC consists of several components:

  • Sensor system . The change in the car’s position around the vertical axis is determined by the YRS (Yaw Rate Sensor) sensor located under the center console. The deceleration sensor DS (Deseleration Sensor) reacts to how far the center of gravity shifts in the axial and lateral directions are slowed down. The steering column has a steering wheel angle sensor that measures the angle of rotation of the wheels. Toyota and Lexus cars are equipped with wheel speed sensors (for each wheel). The opening angle of the throttle valve is also determined by a special sensor. To determine the pressure in the master cylinder when the driver presses the brake pedal, an MCPS (Master Cylinder Pressure Sensor) is installed.
  • ECU control unit . The information received from the sensors enters the control unit. The computer processes the data and transmits a signal to the control mechanisms.
  • Actuators . The actuators operate the hydraulics of the wheel brake cylinders and the throttle valve, which regulates engine power.
  • Information block . The information block consists of a warning lamp indicating the occurrence of lateral slip, and a device that emits a warning signal.

You gave me a scanner, elm327, what systems can it diagnose? Machine RX300. Can you see airbag errors?

ELM327 only engine and automatic transmission, airbags require another scanner. Or, using self-diagnosis, you can look for errors; in the diagnostic connector, you need to tediously close contacts 4 and 13 and calculate the error code by flashing the airbag lamp.

Hello! Please tell me where to look for a solution to the problem before slipping into a hundred. Yesterday evening, while warming up the car, the check and vsc lights came on, I slowly drove home, on the trail. the day at lunchtime everything happened again, I erased the errors with the program and drove home, approaching the house, first the power steering disappeared, and then the engine stalled. When I try to start it, there are rattling clicks, and the tidy and on-board computer go out, then the tidy comes on again, and b. The computer lights up white and then goes out. Tried to light the car with zero effect. The tank contains 65% gasoline. Sometimes, when accelerating, it thinks for a couple of seconds, then explodes with a roar. Before this, the engine was running smoothly, my only trips being short distances. Please tell me where to look for the fault because the diagnostics showed nothing except the sun sensor error on the driver’s side... Thank you!

Hello. In general, by all indications, your battery is low. Measure the battery voltage with a multimeter. And check the fastening of the terminals and fastening of the power ground wires from the battery and the body to begin with. After that you can already think about something. And what errors were there when you erased them with the program? The check was on fire. Do not pay attention to errors in light sensors, everyone has them, it should be so.

Hello, can you tell me where to install the catalyst blende in Kyrgyzstan on a Lexus 330?

Hello, in Bishkek, call +996 551 550 788 Denis, he will do it. To Karakol +996 772 891 100 Vladimir.

Hello, please tell me why two gears P D are on, how to fix it

Hello, what kind of car, is the check light on and what are the errors? Just depending on the model and year of manufacture, the signal from the gear selector can go directly to the instrument panel, or to the engine and automatic transmission control unit, and from there via the data bus to the instrument panel. Write what car and year of manufacture and I will look at the diagram of your car.

PX 330 2004 The check is on

Then the error is most likely 0705 for the gear selector. And the problem is most likely in the selector. You can take it apart and try to clean it. When P is turned on, the voltage should be on the blue and yellow stripe wire, on D - blue and white, respectively, on blue and yellow 0. These are pins 6 and 7 on the selector. You will most likely have it on both.

We have it riveted, unfortunately, it’s only a replacement. If you continue to drive like this, what consequences could there be?

The box is in emergency mode. There will most likely be no consequences.

THANK YOU very much for your help and advice. I will repair

Hello, the car is a 2004 rx300, I had scheduled maintenance, replacing spark plugs, timing belts, adjusting valves, before work I washed the engine with chemicals at the car wash, the work was finished, everything whispers and works without hesitation, after 2 days an error appeared on the knock sensor, I erased the error and looked at two different services, in the last one the old one, they said to change the sensor, although it is a new original one, it has driven no more than 20,000, the work is not easy and not cheap, so the question is, is it possible that an error may appear due to washing the engine and what to do in the end with sensor?

Hello. You have two knock sensors. The error is based on whether it is new or old. Nothing will be damaged by washing there, only if the connector was forgotten during assembly. To check, you can connect the wires from the bank1 and bank2 sensors near the engine control unit. If the error goes to another bank, remove the intake and if the connector is working, change the sensor. There is no other way to check them, they do not have built-in resistance like Boshev's, so it is impossible to ring.

Hello! Lexus rx350 - 2007 Two errors (always) appear at the same time: P0103 and P0352. As a rule, on a bump, on a sharp turn, in reverse, when starting off, rarely on a smooth ride. After the reset, it may take a week, or maybe a day. There were two cases of error P0352 self-correcting and the CHECK going out (P0103 - remains): when filling the tank (with the engine turned off) and when parking on a steep slope (front down). I checked the tank cap. The coils were swapped. The air flow sensor rang and was cleaned. What do you advise?

Here, first of all, you need to shake the wiring harnesses well with the engine running, while simultaneously monitoring the flow meter readings. P0103 is a high signal level, and a high signal level means the ground is lost. Tomorrow I'll look at the diagram to see what the coil of the second cylinder and the flow meter may have in common.

I pulled everything I could get my hands on and didn’t cause an error. Yesterday I threw away a bunch of mistakes. In addition to P0103 and P0352, there are also P0300, P0301, P0302. After the reset they didn't appear again. It looks like the earth is making a fool, but where?

In general, if 0103 and 0352 indicate an electrical malfunction of the flow meter, coil or wiring, then 030x is a misfire, which is determined by uneven engine operation, this does not directly indicate an electrical malfunction, anything can happen. By the way, there have also been problems with the connectors of the engine control unit, check them again. I forgot to look at the diagram later. Here on the Camry there was error 0351 due to problems with the wiring. How does the machine actually work?

Works without problems. At the moment the error appears, there is a short-term failure (like a misfire). The first time (a year ago) the car jerked and began to stall. I moved the wire on the flow sensor and everything was restored (the error went away on its own). There were no problems for 5 months. After the appearance, I opened the DRV harness half a meter, rang the wires to the connector, washed the connector, DRV. It didn't get any easier. Maybe when I moved the wire it caught something else, but then I pulled the entire periphery - it didn’t help

It looks like it was possible to replace the coil on the 2nd cylinder.

Good day! On a 2002 Lexus RX300, after replacing the internal combustion engine, error P0020 appears, the check light is on. Everything seems to be working fine, please tell me where to dig, thank you

Hello. This is a break in one VVT valve. Look, maybe you forgot to connect.

Hello, have you worked with hybrids? I have a 2007 Lexus RX 400h. It stalls while driving. Error p3105. Loss of communication with VVB surveillance. Before it stalls, you can hear the speed of the battery cooling fans increasing. If the speed is not reduced, the car stalls and the VVB fans begin to make noise at maximum. I turn off the ignition and turn it on again - the car drives. I checked all the contacts, changed all the blocks from another car, the battery was checked by the dealer - everything is good. But it stalls...

No, there is no quick answer to such a question; you need to figure it out. Ask here, maybe they have encountered https://hybridservis.ru/forum/index

Good day! Check and vsc popped up, showing errors p0103 and p0328 at the same time, I reset them after a while and they pop up again. Tell me where to dig! LEXUS RX350 2007

Start by replacing the knock sensor. Or swap them to check, although the intake needs to be removed to do this. P0328 high signal from the knock sensor bank 1. P0103 high signal from the flow meter, as practice shows, can sometimes be paired with other errors for the company.

Hello, 2007 Lexus ES 350. After replacing 2 lambda probes (oxygen), the ABS came on, but after restarting it went out. About 5 minutes later the check VSP and sliding machine came on. I turned off the engine, but this light comes on again after

minute after starting and then stays on continuously. There are no other signs of malfunction. Checked it on a tester (not a dealer one) - calibration failure error??

Error probably P0606 ECM/PCM processor? I haven’t seen it on Lexuses, but sometimes on Pradikas 120 it happens because of the rear oxygen fittings. Did the oxygen guys install the original? Using the scanner, check the operation of the oxygen sensors after the catalyst.

Sorry, not VSP, but VSC. Densa oxygen generators are the same as the failed original (not universal) 89465 - 33420 and 89465 - 33360. The device shows that the lambda probe errors have gone away and they are working normally. But for some reason it shows a calibration failure. This morning I picked up the car and specifically noticed when the error light came on - I started the engine, waited 5 minutes, no less - nothing came on, but as soon as I started driving ="" check VSC. I drove about 500 km without problems, the consumption on the highway is 7.3 liters, the engine runs smoothly.

Ah, now I understand. The engine is ok now, the VSC calibration has gone off, this is one of the ABS functions. Can be done manually using a jumper. In the search, type VSC lexus calibration, everything is there.

Excuse me, but could you explain here... on the Forums there are such advisers, damn, then close the 4th and 12th, then the 4th and 13th.. then the 4th and 14th.. on a tractor you can and can experiment.. idk.. but on lehusa has no desire. Thank you.

Good afternoon. The check light came on and vsc I blamed bad gasoline, I refueled with rubbish out of desperation. Harrier 2005. Motor 1mz. I removed the wires from the battery, the error did not pop up at first, but after the second start it was right there again. Haven't used a paperclip yet. What do you advise? Thank you.

How the VSC system works

In order to understand how the VSC system works, let's study the nature of the occurrence of side slip. When turning, a lateral or centrifugal force acts on the center of gravity of the car. It helps to overcome the adhesion of the wheels to the road surface. The higher the speed of the car, the stronger the centrifugal force. When a moment occurs when the traction of the tires with the road ceases to keep the car from drifting, a skid occurs on the front or rear axle of the car.

When the front axle begins to skid, the car begins to shift to the outside of the turn; when the rear axle skids, the car oversteers and shifts to the inside of the turn. The vehicle's stability control system constantly monitors the vehicle's position to keep it on its trajectory. How does she react when skidding?

When the rear wheel axle loses traction, the control unit receives information from all sensors. The information block lights the signal lamp for the activation of the exchange rate stability system and duplicates it with an audible signal. To level the course, the ECU actuates the actuators:

  • closes the throttle valve, reducing the speed of the car and increasing the traction properties of the tires;
  • sends a braking signal to the brake cylinder of the front wheel on the side in which the skid began. In this case, a force arises that returns the car to its course. This allows you to complete the turn safely.

Essentially, VSC helps the driver perform standard steps to get the car out of a skid: you need to reduce the speed and turn the steering wheel towards the rear axle displacement.

What does Check VSC System mean?

As an example to check the functionality of the stability control system, you can consider the Lexus GS 300. Checking the functionality of the VSC is simple: just insert it into the lock and turn the ignition key. If the VSC, VSC off, ABS indicator lights and the side slip light come on for about 3 seconds and then go off, the system is operating normally.

If the stability control system malfunctions, the “VSC” signal lights up, “VSC off” starts blinking. To diagnose a specific malfunction, a special scanner is used, which is connected to the DLC3 connector, which is located under the panel on the driver's side. Using menu items, the specialist reads the fault code.

If there is no special scanner, you need to use the engine compartment service connector. In the connector you need to connect contacts Tc and E1 with a metal clip or other object and turn on the ignition. A flashing “VSC” light will generate diagnostic codes. In order to erase the codes, you need to press the brake pedal at least 8 times while the lamp is flashing.
