Replacing the oil seal

Replacing an oil seal is much easier than performing the same operation on a bearing. The sequence of actions will be as follows:

  • Drain the oil by first unscrewing the left plug, then the right one;
  • Disconnect the cardan, having previously marked its location;
  • Unscrew the two bolts with a 17mm wrench and loosen each support screw;
  • Using a 12mm wrench, unscrew the 4 fastening bolts and then disassemble the housing. It is necessary to place a special container to collect the oil liquid;
  • Disconnect the terminals from the rear side and remove the magnet;
  • Thoroughly degrease the mechanism and wipe it dry.

Toyota/Lexus clutch repair

One of the weak points of the Toyota/Lexus family of cars is the rear-wheel drive coupling. Disassembling the Toyota front axle gearbox

In order to disassemble the gearbox on the front axle, you should perform the following sequence of actions (before starting work, the gearbox must be completely cleaned of dirt and installed on a workbench):

  • Using a 10mm spanner, unscrew the 8 nuts that secure the cover in the front part to the gearbox housing;
  • Remove the cover and gasket;
  • Using a 10mm socket, unscrew the bolt securing the locking plate on the left cover and then remove it. The same should be done with the right plate;
  • Using a 19mm socket, unscrew the four nuts securing the bearing caps to the differential box;
  • Remove the left differential case bearing cover. To remove the right one, you need to screw a bolt into it; by pulling it, the cover can be easily removed;

Removal and disassembly of the driven gear and differential is performed in the same way as the rear gearbox. If there is oil leakage from under the crankcase cover in the lower part, you need to unscrew the 8 bolts securing it using a 10mm socket, remove the cover and the gasket under it, and replace the worn parts with new ones.
