Considering that, according to our legislation, a car must travel on public roads with running lights turned on at any time of the day, these elements bear a large load and often fail. Let's take a closer look at what lamps are installed on Toyota Camry modifications and how they are replaced.
Why does the Toyota Camry low beam bulb burn out quickly?
The serviceability of the lighting system is one of the main criteria that any vehicle must have. This is especially important in the dark, since visibility deteriorates significantly, and the driver is simply not able to react to an obstacle with sufficient speed to stop the car.
The most popular light source in Toyota Camry is a halogen lamp. It is a flask with a filament inside. This type of lamp is quite popular due to its low cost, long service life and availability. But, despite its large resource, it can fail prematurely. There are several reasons for this:
- off-road vehicle operation, shaking, mechanical damage to the filament;
- high generator charge current;
- short circuit in the wiring;
- faulty or oxidized terminals.
The guaranteed service life of a halogen lamp is 450-550 hours. This is approximately 150-180 days, with normal use of the car. In practice, this figure may be slightly higher. If the lighting device fails much more often, it is necessary to check the integrity of the system and eliminate the malfunction.
Some Camry models are equipped with xenon lamps. This is the most modern and technologically advanced type of lighting device, which is capable of creating a brighter light beam due to the glow of inert gas in the lamp. The service life of such elements is much longer, but it is necessary to install additional ignition units.
In addition to halogen and xenon lights, cars are equipped with LED low beam lamps. They have a more robust design and are not affected by vibration. Their following advantages include:
- brighter, softer light;
- insensitivity to voltage changes;
- reduced energy consumption;
- long service life;
But they also have disadvantages. The lamp requires a rated operating current to operate. This is achieved by installing additional resistors. The light beam from such parts is highly scattered, so it is necessary to install lenses in the optics. Well, the main drawback is the high cost.

There are no childhood diseases in it, since this gearbox was installed on several generations of other Toyota cars. The design of the E351 is completely classic, so there are no obvious shortcomings. During prolonged use, the gearbox lever may become loose. With a mileage of more than 150 thousand, the linkage has some play. There are examples of cars with bent arms and broken cable clamps.
The U250E five-speed automatic transmission is often used with larger engines in other vehicles. This indicates a large safety margin of the unit. Working in tandem with a 2.4-liter engine, it has a resource comparable to the resource of the power unit. With timely oil changes, the U250E automatic transmission can operate up to 500-600 thousand km without major overhauls. In the American Camry 40 it is also installed with a 3.5-liter engine. In this case, the service life of the automatic transmission is 250-300 thousand km.
In the CIS countries, cars with a V-shaped 3.5-liter engine are equipped with a six-speed automatic transmission U660E. It has a lot of “childhood diseases”, so it is extremely difficult to use. Serious problems begin at mileage of 100-120 thousand km.
After restyling, right-hand drive cars received the U760E automatic transmission. This is a modified U660E. Most of the problems were resolved, but in terms of reliability it does not reach the U250E.
Hybrid cars have not gone on sale in the CIS. They are equipped with an e-CVT P311 variator. In addition to the gasoline engine, the car has an electric motor with 134 hp. Toyota Camry Hybrid 40 is shown in the photo below. The main disadvantage of the hybrid is the high cost at VVB.

The U241E automatic transmission is designed for all-wheel drive Toyota Camry 40. It is based on the reliable U250E transmission. The car was not officially put on sale on the domestic market, but if desired, it is possible to find such an example.
Types of lamps for Camry V50, V40, and V30
To select suitable Toyota Camry low beam bulbs, you need to know the model modification and year of manufacture. Depending on the Camry version V50, V40, V30, either xenon or halogen elements are installed.
The Camry V30, which was produced in 2003-2006, was equipped with a halogen lamp with an H7 base. From 2006 to 2011 it was replaced by the V40 model. On it you can find not only halogen, but also xenon. Base parameters for Camry V40 are H11/D4S for halogen and xenon, respectively. The Camry V50 has been produced since 2012 and had the same base parameters - H11/D4S.
Some later Camry models use LED headlights for low beams. To form a beam of light, they are supplemented with lenses.
Necessary tools and preliminary preparation
First, you should check the functionality and settings of the above-described electrical corrector. On new cars, as a rule, there are no problems with it, but in cars manufactured before 2008, such a breakdown is not uncommon. If you find that the corrector still does not work, all further actions are meaningless until you replace it.
If you are convinced that the corrector is in good condition, you can proceed to the next step - searching for a suitable site to set up. It must meet several conditions.
- The area must be level - all four wheels of the car must be at the same level.
- The length of the area from the location of the headlights to the wall must be at least 10 meters.
- The wall on which the headlights will shine must also be perfectly flat.
By adjusting the headlights we also mean checking the tail lights and fog lights. As a rule, their correct operation depends on correct placement. Their level above the ground should be within 25 centimeters.
Moreover, they should not act as the main optics of the car. To do this, they are fixed with a slight indentation from the headlights. If standard headlights are installed, then all these conditions must already be met.
The car is placed with its headlights against the wall at a distance of seven meters. Turn on the light and mark the centers of the light spot on the wall. You need to step back 10 cm from them and draw a horizontal line.
After this, you need to drive the Toyota another 7 meters and turn on the headlights again. If the setting is correct, then the upper boundary of the light beam should pass exactly along the previously drawn strip.
Hello everyone))) I haven’t written anything for a long time, I mainly read other people’s on-board engines))) I decided to change the fog lights, because... the relatives were quite heavily sandblasted (by the way, other than sandblasting there are no complaints about them - the reflectors are ideal, the body is like new). I bought a budget non-original and installed it. You can change the PTF by removing the bumper (work for five minutes), or by unscrewing the lower boot, crawl under the bumper with your hand and, unscrewing one screw, pull out the PTF without removing the bumper. Personally, I like the first option))) I removed the lamps that came with the non-original PTF (for the hat) and installed Philips Crystal Vision. The color temperature is very close to 4300K, the light is pleasant. In principle, there is nothing more to describe about PTF (we buy, change lamps, install, adjust).
Since I removed the bumper, I decided to inspect the head light.
As many people know, the lenses (and more precisely, the reflectors) on the Camry xv40, as well as on the Avensis and others like them, burn out in literally 4 years. - open the hood to gain access to the interior of the engine compartment;
- remove the negative terminal from the battery. This is necessary in order to avoid short circuits due to careless actions;
- disconnect the terminals located on the lamp base;
- to remove the product, you need to turn it counterclockwise;
- install the new part into the seat and fix it in the socket by turning the body a quarter clockwise;
- connect the battery terminals;
Remember! If fingerprints remain on the flask during work, it is necessary to remove them using a napkin or short-pile cloth pre-soaked in alcohol.
Subtleties of using xenon lighting
