The new Toyota Corolla Touring Sports station wagon was officially revealed online on September 4, 2021, without waiting for the public premiere of the new product on the Paris Motor Show podium in October of this year. Our review of the 2018-2019 Toyota Corolla Touring Sports includes photos, prices, configurations and technical characteristics of the Toyota Corolla Touring Sport station wagon, which is the brother of the Toyota Corolla hatchback. The start of sales of the new Toyota Corolla Touring Sports station wagon on the European market is scheduled for mid-autumn 2021 at a price of 25,000 euros.

At the very beginning of our review, we would like to remind our readers that the Japanese ]Toyota Motor Corporation[/anchor] decided to abandon the Auris name. Thus, the 3rd generation Toyota Auris hatchback, officially presented at the Geneva Motor Show in the spring of 2021, automatically became the Toyota Corolla Hatchback. So the new European C-Class station wagon is called the Toyota Corolla Touring Sports from the very beginning, and not as the predecessor of the Toyota Auris Touring Sports.

The new 5-door Toyota Corolla Touring Sport station wagon was completely developed by specialists from the European division of Toyota Motor Corporation (not surprising, since the lion's share of car sales is in Europe). The new model is based on one of the versions of the global modular platform TNGA with the GA-C index, and specialists from the Toyota design center in Zaventem, Belgium, worked on the design of the station wagon. By the way, the masters of auto design did a great job on the appearance of the station wagon, giving the new product a front part of the body identical to the hatchback (up to the B-pillar, the station wagon and the hatchback are simply twin brothers) and drawing an original, stylish and attractive rear.

At the same time, the Toyota Corolla Touring Sports station wagon looks even more harmonious and solid in profile than its sister car with a hatchback body. There is a long roof line falling towards the stern, strict athletic stampings on the sides of the body, a dashing flourish of the rear roof pillar, a tailgate with a moderate slope of glass, topped in turn with a spoiler, a large and solid rear part of the body with a neat overhang.

The designers who created the stylish image of the new Toyota Corolla Touring Sport station wagon hint that this is a kind of shooting brake with a sporty profile. By the way, in order to emphasize the sportiness of the station wagon, the manufacturer offers four options for two-tone body painting of the Corolla Touring Sports model with roof pillars and the roof itself painted black.

• The external overall dimensions of the 2018-2019 Toyota Corolla Touring Sports body are noticeably larger than those of the Toyota Corolla cross-platform hatchback. The wheelbase of the station wagon is 2700 mm, which is 60 mm longer than that of the hatch, and the body length is about 4.5 meters.
• The distance between the axles of the Corolla station wagon is only 30 mm less than that of the class record holder of the French station wagon Peugeot 308 SW with its 2730 mm wheelbase and 14 mm more than that of the Czech Skoda Octavia Combi, famous for its interior space.

Interestingly, compared to the wheelbase dimensions of the Toyota Auris Touring Sports, the wheelbase dimensions of the Toyota Corolla Touring Sports have increased by 100 mm in one fell swoop. This increase provided not only a significant increase in the useful volume of the luggage compartment to 598 liters (the trunk of the Auris station wagon holds only 507 liters), but also made it possible to allocate more legroom for rear passengers. Toyota representatives measured a record 928 mm between the backs of the first row and rear seats (for the Peugeot 308 SW this figure is less - 866 mm).

Continuing our review of the interior of the new Toyota Corolla station wagon, we would like to note the presence of a stylish dashboard with a 7-inch color display of a multifunctional trip computer, an advanced multimedia complex with an 8-inch color screen (Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, navigation, rear view camera ), a convenient and modern climate control control unit, as well as front sports seats with pronounced lateral support, a head-up display, wireless charging for smartphones, a JBL GreenEdge audio system and a large panoramic roof with sunroof. It’s a shame, but the lion’s share of the above equipment is available only for the richest trim levels of the station wagon.

Technical characteristics of Toyota Corolla Touring Sports 2018-2019. In technical terms, the new Toyota Corolla Touring Sport station wagon completely repeats the technical content of its sibling, the Toyota Corolla hatchback. The new product is based on a new modular “trolley” Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) GA-C platform with a completely independent front (McPherson strut) and rear (multi-link) suspension design. For an additional fee, an adaptive suspension AVS (Adaptive Variable Suspension) will even be offered.

For the Toyota Corolla Touring Sports station wagon, as for the Corolla hatchback, three power plants are offered. The base engine is a 1.2 Turbo petrol engine (112 hp 185 Nm) coupled with a 6-speed manual transmission (Multidrive S CVT). The other two powertrains are hybrid and are installed in the Toyota Corolla Touring Sports Hybrid. The initial hybrid version is based on a naturally aspirated 1.8-liter gasoline engine and an electric motor (total power 122 hp). A more powerful hybrid unit consisting of a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated gasoline engine and an electric motor (peak power 180 hp).
