A review of the Toyota Camry 2021 should begin with the fact that it is not an updated model resulting from restyling, but a completely new generation of the car, equipped with the most modern functions and systems.

Car enthusiasts have already appreciated the advantages of the stylish and comfortable Camry sedan, created by the designers of the Toyota concern.

The exterior of the 2017–2018 Japanese flagship Camry sedan in a new body is a kind of exclusive tuning of a previous generation car, in which, however, the signature features of the brand can be discerned. But overall, the car has become more charismatic and sportily aggressive, which was not observed before. The main differences in the appearance of the new car are immediately noticeable.

Among them, first of all, it is worth mentioning:

narrowed radiator grille;
a new, trapezoidal shape of the head optics, which has become narrower, and seems to be a continuation of the radiator grille;
a huge false radiator grille reaching to the very bottom of the front bumper, made in the style of the latest Lexus models (for lower trim levels it covers the entire length of the bumper, and for models with the SE or XSE equipment it only occupies its central part);
an original front bumper design with wide side air intake niches in top-end models, framed by stamping of an unusual shape, which gives the car an aggressive and sporty character;
elongated, falling hood;
noticeably narrowed and piled-up A-pillars;
massive wheel arches, as if drawn under a compass;
voluminous, powerful rear bumper;
shortened trunk lid with spoiler;

Attention! The Toyota Camry new model was assembled on the new global platform TNGA. As a result, the wheelbase increased by 50 mm and the height of the car decreased by 37 mm. The center of gravity has become lower, and there is more room in the cabin for the driver’s legs, as well as increased possibilities for adjusting the steering wheel. Exterior

The appearance of the car has been completely revised. The new Camry has an arrow-shaped body with a modern and somewhat aggressive design. The length of the car has increased by 10 mm, and the wheelbase has increased by 45 mm. When looking at the front of the car, the large air intake grille and fog lights combined with turn signals immediately catch your eye. They are made in the shape of a boomerang and run on LEDs. The head optics have also undergone significant changes. The headlights now look more strict and solid (they have become somewhat narrower). A small number of chrome parts only emphasize this. Having listened to feedback on previous models, the manufacturer organically combined running lights with turn indicators.

The design has become more strict and dynamic. Sharp lines and sharp corners appeared in the outlines of the body. Now some sporty aspirations are noticeable in the car’s body (this feeling, in particular, is given by the massive air intake).

There is a small spoiler at the rear of the car. The exhaust pipes (there are two of them) are hidden under the fairing. The trunk lid, as well as the hood, were shortened. The rear bumper has become larger and more massive.

Looking at the car from the side, you can pay attention to the aerodynamic shape of the body. The new version has also reduced the area of the side windows.

In general, the new version of Camry looks more like a European than a true Asian. Perhaps the reason is the manufacturer’s desire to create a truly global car. According to company representatives, the difference between versions of cars for different countries will mainly come down to small details (measuring distance in kilometers or miles, fuel volume in liters or gallons, suspension settings, etc.).

Technical characteristics of the Toyota Camry 2017 car

The new Toyota Camry 2021 is equipped with an independent suspension, which uses McPherson struts on the front axle and a multi-link system with double wishbones on the rear axle. The range of power units has been completely updated.

On the Camry 2021, only the following types of gasoline engines are installed in the new body:

a new economical 203-horsepower four-cylinder 2.5-liter Dynamic Force Engine with direct fuel injection, paired with an 8-position Direct Shift automatic transmission;
the 3.5-liter V6 D-4S six-cylinder engine that powers the new Highlander today, it has a power of 300 horsepower and is equipped with the same transmission;
a hybrid power plant based on a 2.5-liter engine and the Toyota Hybrid System, which includes an electric motor and a CVT transmission with a sport mode.

The designers who worked on the creation of the restyled Toyota Camry model for the 2021 model year paid close attention to the technical equipment of their brainchild.
Among the other characteristics and parameters of the new generation Camry, the following can be noted:

Thanks to a suspension retuning that took place in 2015, the latest Camry sedans feel a little livelier. But do not test the car on sharp turns; it is, first of all, designed for comfortable and leisurely movement. The standard engine, which will please most drivers, picks up and maintains speed quite adequately. Complemented by a six-speed automatic transmission, the powertrain feels great in the city, on the highway and even in the suburbs. Those who opt for the V6 engine with its extra horsepower will be rewarded with extra power for a slight increase in fuel consumption. The XSE model adds a sporty feel, but its 18-inch wheels and firm shock absorbers detract from ride quality. Environmentalists and those looking to save money will love the hybrid version.

As of today, there is no reliable information available in which trim levels the updated Toyota Camry of the 2017–2018 model year will be sold in Russia.

XLE V6 , equipped with a 3.5-liter engine, a 10-inch head-up screen, voice control of the multimedia system and a 9-speaker sound system with wireless audio streaming via Bluetooth;

SE - this equipment has a 2.5-liter power unit and a bumper with side air intake grilles, which even in the photo differs from lower modifications; it provides additional equipment with a leather sports steering wheel, black alloy wheels and a sports body kit;

XSE V6 is the top trim with a 3.5-liter engine.

Various accessories can be purchased as options, such as a trunk mat or metal crankcase protection. It is not yet known whether Toyota Camry hybrid sedans will be produced for the Russian market, and what modifications these cars will be produced at the Shushary plant.
