In connection with the theft of the century, committed by some of our politicians from 3 banks, totaling 1 billion euros, the economic situation in the country must be raised.
At whose expense? Well, of course, at our expense! By raising prices for everything possible! A rather unusual start to the entry into the BZ, however, I could not ignore this issue, being outraged by the 50% increase in road tax which I learned about at the next scheduled maintenance, while our roads remain everything is in the same condition...Ok, we'll survive! In general, we have been driving the Corolla for 2 years now, and this time everything is not 100% good, but about 98%, because... I found out that my handbrake doesn’t hold very well. Actually, I noticed this a long time ago. While a friend on the same machine only needs 5-7 clicks to lock, even after 10 clicks it was a little weak for me. At the maintenance, I was strongly advised to tighten the cable in the next 3 days. I didn’t bother to pull, I decided to tighten it right away!) I came home and let’s google - how it’s done, and whether it’s possible at home. It turned out to be real and not at all difficult ????
- So I did everything and filmed it step by step:
These 2 10mm bolts are located in the glove compartment-armrest, they need to be unscrewed
Carefully unfasten the plastic plug under the handbrake
We take out the ashtray, carefully pick out the plastic around the transmission, being careful not to tear off the cigarette lighter wires
Removing the plugs from the cigarette lighter
Under this removed plastic there are 2 more screws that need to be unscrewed, and all the plastic between the driver and passenger can be removed
Carefully pull out the plastic, opening access to the handbrake
On the thread you can see 2 nuts for 10: the top is a lock nut, the bottom is an adjusting nut
First, loosen the lock nut and lift it so that it does not interfere with turning the adjusting
Now we tighten the adjusting nut in the position of the handbrake raised by 3 clicks, so that the cable is tight and the maximum tension of the lever does not exceed 8-9 clicks
And here is the cable itself, initially it was almost not tensioned, and the handbrake pulled all 15 clicks - all the way
And don't forget to tighten the locknut at the end! I forgot, I had to re-open all the plastic :)))
As a result, the lever should rise within 8 clicks, and should be held after the 4-5th. It is checked very simply - the lever rises by 4-5 clicks, the engine starts, gear 1, the clutch is smoothly released. If the car starts moving, everything is bad, if it stalls, everything is fine :) That's all???? I hope it will be useful to someone) MOT+tax+insurance - 67 euros
