The 2021 model was unveiled at the 2019 Chicago Auto Show and it's winning a lot of hearts this year thanks to its strong looks and more features. How we tested the 2019 Toyota Sequoia
Specifications
Under the hood of the Toyota Sequoia there is a 5.7-liter gasoline engine capable of producing 386 hp. The car's transmission is represented by a 6-range hydromechanical automatic transmission.
All-wheel drive is implemented using the TRD Pro system and a Torsen center differential. In addition, the SUV boasts a transfer case with a number of reduction gears.
Driving impressions
The current Sequoia weighs almost three tons and is more than 520 cm long. These figures are important because the laws of physics have not been repealed, according to which Sequoia can become a headache. Despite all the advantages, the SUV is bulky. Power is not an issue; the Toyota Sequoia's 5.7-liter V8 engine delivers 383 horsepower. The problem will be the level of fuel consumption; in the city Toyota spends 18.4 l/100km. The suspension, which easily copes with the vagaries of nature, also overcomes uneven asphalt roads without any problems. TRD Sport models ride harsher, but don't expect a sporty feel. The top Platinum models guarantee the highest ride quality thanks to air suspension that can instantly adapt to road conditions. Handling is precise, although a bit heavy at low speeds. The giant's interior is well isolated from extraneous noise. A standard rearview camera, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert are necessary aids given the car's size.
Best Features
Large SUVs can't cost little, so it's nice to know that the money wasn't wasted. An excellent history of reliability, durability and the presence of the desired systems and functions are a must in this case.
While some automakers still offer separate packages or models to get desired features, Toyota has equipped all Sequoia with the "TSS-P" safety suite. It includes forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, automatic high beams, adaptive cruise control and a lane change warning system.

Interior
The Toyota Sequoia actually seats eight people in three rows, with the last row suitable for adults. The three-seat second-row seat has the ability to move individual sections forward and backward, and they can also be completely folded. As an option, second-row captain's chairs are offered, with which passengers receive a higher level of comfort, and the driver receives fewer seats to seven. Up front there are two large seats separated by a large center console. The trunk of the Toyota Sequoia holds 540 liters. The dashboard is typical of an SUV and, to be honest, is starting to show the car's age. The controls are large and therefore easy to access and operate. There's an infotainment screen at the top, but no Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.

Exterior
As Toyota's longest, widest and tallest SUV, the current Sequoia surpasses even the Land Cruiser. The long wheelbase has a positive effect on interior space, contributes to ride quality and contributes to stability, especially when negotiating tight corners. The appearance of the SUV is quite typical, so apart from its size, it is not much different.

Basic equipment
The SUV is offered in four trim levels: SR5, TRD Sport, Limited and Platinum. The cheapest SR5 model offers eight power settings for the driver's seat, four for the passenger seat, three-zone automatic climate control, LED headlights, a sunroof, front and rear parking sensors and 18-inch wheels. The infotainment system includes a 6.1-inch touchscreen, AM/FM/HD, radio and CD player, USB port and Bluetooth. Safety is taken care of by blind spot monitoring and Toyota Safety Sense with forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning and adaptive cruise control. The TRD Sport model, which arrived last year, adds sport-tuned Bilstein shock absorbers, 20-inch wheels, unique interior and exterior aesthetics and the option of second-row captain's chairs.
Optional equipment
Opt for the Sequoia Limited model and you get a power liftgate, heated leather front seats, a navigation system, JBL audio and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. The Platinum model adds perforated leather upholstery, ventilated front seats, an air suspension, heated second-row seats, and a rear-seat entertainment system with a Blu-ray player, a 9.0-inch screen, and wireless headphones. All models can be equipped with an all-wheel drive system.

The 2020 Toyota Sequoia TRD Pro will come with a distinct exterior design. It's strong, attractive and stylish when compared to earlier models.
