e150 Specifications
The tenth generation model appeared in Europe in 2007, and compared to the previous version, it significantly changed its appearance, it became more solid and more stylish. Thanks to its new appearance, the car became similar to a sedan of a higher class.
The new e150 model had the following configurations:
- Comfort is a basic package that includes air conditioning and front electric windows. Headlight washers were installed in the bumper design, and the front seats and rear-view mirrors were equipped with a heating system. In addition, central locking, an immobilizer and a new multimedia system were installed.
- Elegance, it is equipped with everything that the comfort package has, plus rear electric windows, climate control, and additional speakers are added. The steering wheel is covered in leather and has keys for controlling the audio system, as well as PTF.
- Prestige is the richest and most equipped technically. Alloy wheels, rain and light sensors are installed. The engine in this configuration is started using a special button, cruise control and a rear view mirror with an electrochromic mechanism are also installed.
The car has become more comfortable due to wider arches, new design of car seats, as well as higher quality materials. The luggage compartment has become larger.
Body
Toyota Corolla is presented in a sedan body, the technical characteristics of which are given below.
The dimensions have been slightly increased compared to the previous generation of the model, which is traditional for most cars. The length is 4540 mm, width - 1760 mm, height - 1470 mm. The wheelbase is 2600 mm.
In addition, compared to the previous generation, body rigidity was increased and its weight increased. The weight of the car in running order is about 1300 kg, depending on the modification and equipment. Rigidity, as is known, determines the driving performance and safety of a car. Therefore, by improving this technical characteristic, the designers were able to significantly increase safety. achieved through the increased use of high-strength steels. This can be judged by the maximum rating received by the Toyota Corolla E150 based on the results of Euro NCAP crash tests, which was achieved, among other things, thanks to the body’s ability to significantly mitigate both frontal, side and rear impacts. It should be noted that this is the first generation of the car in question to receive such a high safety rating.
Engine and transmission
The 2008 Toyota Corolla was equipped with two types of gasoline engines:
- With a volume of 1.3 liters and a power of 101 hp;
- With a volume of 1.6 liters and a power of 124 hp.
The engine is powered by gasoline through a special distributor injection system. And the transmission can be either a 5-4 speed manual transmission or automatic transmission.
As for the European versions, diesel engines can be installed on them:
- With a volume of 1.4 liters and a power of 90 hp;
- With a volume of 2 liters and a power of 125 hp.
The transmission may be the same as on the gasoline version.
It is worth noting that models released in 2007, 2008 and 2009 were also equipped with a robotic transmission called MMT, but due to a large number of complaints, the manufacturer decided to abandon it.
Judging by the reviews, the car is quite economical in terms of fuel consumption. For example, an engine with a volume of 1.3 liters and a manual transmission in urban conditions consumes about 6 liters per hundred, and an engine with 124 hp and a manual transmission consumes about 7 liters.
Pros and cons of Corolla XI
There is an opinion circulating on the Internet that the 11th generation of the legend has lost “real Japanese quality” - a mythical indicator implanted by marketers in the souls of drivers. Corolla came to Russian dealers from Turkey, so skeptics had questions about the build quality.
Many owners complain about the seat upholstery: the fabric wears out quickly. The driver's seat is mostly affected. In severe frosts, the tailgate solenoid freezes, so it is not always possible to slam it shut after opening.
Sound insulation also raises questions. The main complaints are about plastic squeaks in the cabin. Since this is not a warranty case, drivers solve the problem themselves by contacting specialized centers.
The quality of the paintwork is also disappointing. Chips quickly appear on the bumpers and hood. Rear brakes last no more than 30-40 thousand km.
If you bought a completely new car, and it is still under warranty, which is 3 years, or 100 thousand km, be prepared for maintenance from the officials every 10 thousand km. For those who are accustomed to undergoing maintenance on other brands every 15 thousand km, it will be unusual and expensive. The average cost of routine maintenance in official services across regions is 9,000 rubles.
When choosing a Corolla, take into account the high cost of CASCO insurance. The model is popular among car thieves, so insurance company rates range on average from 100 to 150 thousand rubles. No competitor in the class, except the Mazda 3, is so expensive to insure.
The most important thing that the eleventh Corolla can attract is the reliability of its components and assemblies. Engines do not break during normal operation, gearboxes do not cause problems either. If you choose a variator, keep in mind that in the event of a serious breakdown, the entire assembly will need to be replaced. The cost currently varies between 130-180 thousand rubles depending on the region.
Suspension
Despite the fact that the suspension has a fairly simple design, it is very reliable and provides good comfort while driving. MacPherson struts are installed at the front, and a torsion beam at the rear.
In addition, the Corolla was equipped with the following security systems:
- Frontal airbags;
- EVD and ABC system;
- Amplifiers for emergency braking;
- Additionally, the Elegance package was equipped with curtain airbags, as well as airbags that protected the knees.
Thanks to its good safety equipment, the car received high marks from experts.
Interior of Toyota Corolla 2008
The first thing you notice when getting into a Toyota Corolla is the unusual design of the dashboard. Both the tachometer and speedometer are designed in the form of an old barometer, in the center of which mileage, outside temperature and other indicators are displayed. The dashboard lighting is quite familiar: orange, but the visor above it resembles the enlarged eyepieces of binoculars.
- The steering wheel, despite its Japanese origin, is “empty”, that is, no keys can be found on it. But it fits comfortably in your hands. It can only be adjusted vertically.
- The center console on top seems to “drip” from the dashboard. There is a radio and a climate control system in the cabin. On the central tunnel, in addition to the gear shift lever, there are two compartments for glasses, which have an interesting shape for opening the lids.
- The materials used for interior decoration can withstand the scrutiny of a fastidious user. They practically do not creak, and when you touch the surfaces with your finger, you do not get the impression that you have touched a concrete wall.
- All windows are equipped with electric lifts. The side mirrors are also adjustable via an electric joystick.
There is enough space in the Toyota Corolla cabin for both front and rear passengers. Although, to be honest, two tall people won’t fit in a row.

Peculiarities
Released in 2008, the model inherited all the best from previous versions. Its performance and driving characteristics are at the highest level. The following features are especially worth highlighting:
- Spacious interior;
- Modern and high-quality suspension;
- Excellent handling;
- Improved security system.
Thanks to its reliability and excellent technical equipment, the car has received numerous recognition among a huge number of car enthusiasts.
Exterior and interior trim
The tenth generation Toyota Corolla is very different from its competitors, who produced futuristic and sports cars. The Corolla has a more conservative appearance. Although there are a lot of differences from its predecessors. Modern forms of front optics and rear lights, expressive outlines of body elements.
The Corolla was positioned in the market as a practical, economical and reliable car with good performance. The designers managed to make the car like this, this can be seen over the past years. Now on the secondary market the cost of the tenth generation is quite high - it starts from 300 thousand.
The interior design is simple, the finishing materials used are of high quality, as on any other Toyota car. The level of technical equipment is high. Even the basic package includes air conditioning and audio equipment with a navigation system. There are also several storage drawers to store various small items.
Among the shortcomings, owners note the lack of lateral support and insufficient comfort for tall people. The second drawback is compensated by the steering wheel, which can be adjusted to suit you, fortunately there are enough settings.
But the back row of seats is spacious and very comfortable. Three adults can easily accommodate and travel any distance comfortably. The luggage compartment can be increased by folding the rear row backrests. Very convenient when transporting large cargo.

Greetings to all who stopped by!
I have long wanted to make a video review of my speaker, but it never worked out (((I only shot short videos from the life of the Corolla!
And the other day I managed to shoot a full video review... Thanks to Roman Mikhailov romacorolla!
I present to your attention the work of Roman:

Well, how can we do without rap in the garage))
When a Japanese concern releases a new version of a beloved model, there are plenty of people willing to test drive each new generation Toyota Corolla, both among amateurs and professionals. Each review is a unique description compiled by competent drivers, auto mechanics and other professionals, helping a person appreciate all the advantages and disadvantages of the car.
Features of restyling: how does Corolla X differ from its predecessors
You can distinguish the restyling Toyota Corolla from previous models with the naked eye. So, the new design affected the optics. The headlights have become more elongated towards the grille and narrower. The manufacturer added Camry features to the optics.
The 2010 Toyota Corolla is equipped with a new bumper with a wide air intake, and the false radiator grille has also undergone changes. Turn indicators have been added to the mirrors. The rear bumper has become sharper, which adds to the car's aggressiveness and sense of power. The rear optics have been updated, the reversing lights have been moved under the headlight. External changes also include new 16-inch alloy wheels. Thanks to the restyling of some parts, the appearance of the Corolla has become closer to the exterior of more expensive sedans.
Restyled Corolla: rear view
For added convenience, the trunk release button is located on the ignition key. Changes have also been made to the audio system: it is now possible to connect via Bluetooth, and USB and AUX outputs have been added.
An important advantage of the Corolla restyling is the rear view mirror, which automatically dims. It has a built-in display that transmits images from the rear view camera. At the same time, some trim levels of the model do not have parking sensors. The signal from the rear camera is not accompanied by sounds, which could help the driver to park or back up without an accident.
Test drive 2013 model
The 2013 Toyota Corolla is already the 11th generation of the car, and its big test will help to find out why the car has gained such incredible popularity in the world over the 50 years of its existence. Although it is difficult to classify this model after the latest restyling as a budget car. Toyota Corolla 2013 has grown in all directions, decreasing only in height (-1 cm), which made it possible to increase interior space.
The new generation is characterized by a bright appearance and a modern stylish design, characterized by a sporty orientation and some aggressiveness.
It is clear that a review of the model with the most powerful engine will not fully convey the sensations of the entire generation line, so a large test of the average version is usually carried out. For example, the review of the Toyota Corolla and its test drive in the video were interesting.
Here we analyze the external parameters and technical characteristics of a Corolla with a 1.8 liter engine and a CVT transmission operating in three modes.
From the first kilometers, one can note higher comfort while driving, both in terms of noise insulation and in the characteristics of dynamism and handling. A clear response to any steering changes is felt immediately, and the optimal suspension stiffness smoothes out uneven city streets efficiently and smoothly. The suspension in the latest generation did not receive higher rigidity, which puts the Corolla in terms of dynamics at a level lower than sports cars.
Even at speeds over 100 km/h, you don’t feel much acceleration; the car behaves clearly and predictably. The same can be said about the brakes, which are distinguished by lightning-fast response and sufficient smoothness.
Comfortable seats, both front and rear, do not create discomfort even during a long drive, and the armrests increase the pleasant sensations during your stay in the cabin.
Should I buy a Toyota Corolla X?
It is clear that we are not talking about the IX generation Corolla 120 or the 120 generation Corolla - this is an outdated version. But by and large, buying a car for the vast majority of users is an expensive undertaking with long-term consequences associated with the operation of the car. Therefore, of course, doubts may remain for some time after purchasing a car, until it dispels them for you. Of course, anything can happen, but the long-term leadership of this car in sales can speak in favor of a positive decision to purchase the 2008 Corolla.
What to buy instead of a Toyota Corolla review of competitors
But, if for various reasons you don’t like the Corolla, then the choice on the market is wide. For the same money, instead of a 2009 Corolla or a 2011 Toyota Corolla, you can buy a Chevrolet Cruze, Hyundai Elantra, Ford Focus, Kia Ceed, Kia Cerato or Volkswagen Golf. But it just raises doubts whether they can compete with the Corolla in reliability.
Buying Tips
If you are looking for a reliable and unpretentious car that will be easy to sell later, then choose the Toyota Corolla E150. Buying a pre-restyling car is a risk, because some childhood illnesses can cause problems. You don’t want, for example, to buy a new pump or change the headliner after a leak... Thus, it is best to choose from cars no older than 2010 and focus on an amount of about 580 - 600 thousand rubles.
If you decide to buy a pre-restyling Corolla, forget about the automatic transmission. The risk of losing a lot of money with a problematic robot is very high, and it does not justify the good (relative to hydromechanical automatic transmission) dynamics. Small-volume engines 1.4 and 1.3 are best avoided. They won't cause any maintenance problems, but they provide very sluggish acceleration. In addition, during resale, the demand for them is obviously lower, which will force you to reduce the price in the future. Another argument against it is that it was the “weak” Corollas that were more often bought for corporate fleets and, accordingly, they were very actively used. Private owners are always more attentive to their cars.
As usual, we recommend taking your time. Toyota Corolla has been and remains a very popular model, so the choice is always huge. If there is anything alarming (stains on the paint, lack of a service book, confusing statements from the owner), abandon a particular car and look for another.
Typical car problems and malfunctions
As legend has it, Toyota owners visit service centers only to replace filters and fluids. But in reality, nothing is perfect in the world, and even a Corolla can present an unpleasant surprise. Among other things, before purchasing, you should check the condition of the steering rack, which may rattle.
The clutch and bearings of a manual transmission are not durable. During a test drive, be sure to pay attention to the operation of these elements. In addition, owners complain about the heavy travel of the manual transmission lever, especially when moving from 4th to 5th.
Another disadvantage is coolant leaks from the system. Traces of surface corrosion can sometimes be seen on elements of the chassis and exhaust system. In the past, owners of fifth-, sixth- and seventh-generation Corollas joked that the mechanical components would easily survive a rotting body. Fortunately, this does not apply to the E140 body - it does not bloom.
Toyota Corolla owners note the need to frequently replace brake pads and discs. The suspension deserves only positive reviews. It allows you to travel 100,000 km without replacing any elements.
Over time, plastic begins to make noise in the cabin. This is the result of using materials that are not of the best quality and do not fit accurately. The plastics used are significantly inferior in quality to German or French competitors. Moreover, over time, scratches appear on the plastic panels, and after 60-100 thousand km the surface of the steering wheel begins to wear off. Sometimes there are problems with the audio system display. In many instances, the cup holders are broken. Corrosion of the front seat rails is also normal.
