Test drives of Toyota Camry are a great opportunity to get to know the car before buying it. Professional auto journalists of the MotorPage portal thoroughly examine the Toyota Camry and tell site readers all the nuances of owning this car, its strengths and weaknesses, characteristics and share driving impressions. Each test drive is accompanied by an extended photo gallery, where almost every photo is commented on.
At the end of each Toyota Camry test drive there is a comment form through which you, as well as other portal visitors, can exchange your opinions about the Camry, agree or disagree with the author of the test drive. If you are looking for reviews from other Toyota Camry owners, we recommend taking a look at the model card page.
It is worth noting that our editorial team is one of the first to receive cars for testing, so on our pages you can find tests of the latest generation of Toyota Camry, which is usually very different from previous versions of the car. This is due to the fact that any car during the production process goes through several stages of refinement, improvement and restyling.
By the way, you can always subscribe to new materials on our site regarding Toyota Camry reviews via RSS, and then you will always be aware of all significant events regarding this model.

Buyer Help
There are two variants of Toyota Camry models on the Kazakhstan market: our “European” ones and those imported from the USA. American models (by the way, they are assembled in the USA, not Japan) are noticeably different from European ones in appearance, interior, and suspension settings. The ground clearance of American versions is slightly lower than that of cars officially sold in the CIS. The suspension itself is softer on the “American” ones. Even the light is different - American headlights illuminate the road worse than European ones.
When purchasing a Toyota Camry from America, there is a risk of running into a dead car. It happens that car owners in the USA are negligent about timely maintenance. Such cases are rare, but not excluded. There are also frequent cases of Camry being mercilessly used in taxi companies.
But cars bought new in Kazakhstan, as a rule, are in better condition thanks to timely maintenance. Another advantage of buying a car that was previously purchased new in Kazakhstan from a dealership is that it is easy to check its history.
The Camry body has excellent corrosion protection. Over the 5 years that this car has been produced, not a single place susceptible to rust has been found.
Both engines have one feature - their timing drive is carried out by a chain, not a belt. The entire range of engines is very reliable. If all maintenance periods are observed, they can last more than 400 thousand km before overhaul. The problems encountered are somehow related to the use of low-quality fuel. Especially often, the injection system of cars imported from the USA suffers because of our gasoline. According to the regulations, spark plugs with iridium coating should last 100 thousand km, but on our fuel they rarely last half of this mileage. And you shouldn’t skimp on spark plugs - operation with faulty spark plugs can lead to failure of the ignition module.
The automatic transmission on models with a “four” has 5 steps, and on cars with a V-shaped “six” - six. Both gearboxes are reliable, especially the 5-speed. A number of owners complained about the failure of the 6-speed automatic transmission, but this was mainly due to overload of the unit during aggressive driving. In general, with timely oil changes (every 40 thousand km), the transmission lasts no less than the engine.
The Toyota Camry suspension has an enviable strength. Cars that have traveled more than 100 thousand km on CIS roads do not require serious chassis repairs. Only such little things as stabilizer struts with their bushings will need to be changed at intervals of 40-50 thousand km. Closer to the mileage of 150 thousand km, it may be necessary to replace the shock absorbers.
The weak point in the chassis is the steering rack. Although rare, you can find a Camry with worn-out plastic steering rack bushings, which manifests itself in a knocking sound when driving over bumps.

Test DriveToyota Camry - “Why did Toyota Camry change its image with Lexus”
Even if you adhere to an informal style of clothing, sometimes you should still wear a suit so as not to forget how to wear it correctly. In the same way, it is necessary to periodically test models that are considered standards in their classes. To agree in disputes about which car is better, or, conversely, to reject obviously false arguments

Toyota Camry - “Large Medium Business”
The Toyota Camry is a familiar stranger to me. Fate brought me together with a previous generation car in somewhat unusual conditions: on a lift in a garage workshop, where I had the opportunity to verify the true monumentality (and, accordingly, reliability) of its chassis. However, the driving performance of that Camry was much less impressive. Moreover, they were rather disappointing. Therefore, I had a really great interest in the new car.

Nissan Teana, Toyota Camry, Skoda Superb - “Business partners (Toyota Camry,Nissan Teana,Skoda Superb)”
What should a business class car be like? The basic requirements seem to be obvious: large, powerful, comfortable, well made, well equipped, prestigious... Everything is clear with this. The other thing is not entirely clear. Why, for example, given that almost all business-class sedans fully or almost fully meet the requirements, do they have such different market fates? We tried to understand this by taking three cars as examples: Toyota Camry, Nissan Teana and Skoda Superb. The first of them is the obvious darling of fate, the undisputed market favorite, the favorite of the business public. The second half has its own stable contingent of users, but nothing more. And finally, the third is a greatly underestimated option, with a large, but for a number of different reasons, business potential that is far from being realized. But technically, all three of them are worth each other...

Epilogue
There is no drive, there is no passion either. Why is she loved so much? But when I asked this question, I didn’t even notice how I found a bunch of evidence that the Camry is worth loving. Well, at the very least, gain respect - that’s for sure. Based on the test results, we were able to find the desired harmony. And let me note right away: I didn’t have to strain myself. Maybe the Camry's lack of distinct character helps anyone reconnect with it? Maybe. But the Camry certainly didn’t seem characterless. There is something elusive and secret about her. And at the same moment she is ready to let anyone drive - with a smile.
In addition to everything seen and tested, the Camry also has such qualities as reliability, which is not killed even by numerous recall campaigns from the factory due to serial defects.
An excellent choice for a businessman who counts money, values time and respects comfort. I think that if there is a preference for “Europeans”, then even if you drive a Camry, you won’t have to regret it. Or maybe you’ll end up going back to it altogether—a good choice for a family car, too. Here you will find almost all the desired needs and qualities in the form of a spacious interior and acceptable volume in the trunk. And, importantly, Camry is suitable for both the male and female half of humanity. This is what Camry is like.
The 2010 model differs from earlier versions primarily in headlights, a new bumper and an abundance of chrome on the radiator grille. For some reason, real fans like the old version, because the restyled one looks like a Corolla

Range of engines
Toyota Camry buyers will be able to choose two petrol engine options: a 2.4-liter inline-four with 167 hp. and a V-shaped “six” with a volume of 3.5 liters and a power of 277 hp. There is also a hybrid version, which has been officially sold in the USA and Japan since March 2006, with a 147-horsepower 2.4-liter gasoline engine and a 40-horsepower electric motor (total power - 187 “horses”). Today, by the way, you can see such cars on the streets of Almaty.
Externally, they can be distinguished mainly by a different front bumper, front and rear optics (with a transparent lens), as well as by the Hybrid Synergy Drive emblem.
