The process for preventing an emergency is as follows:

  • When PCS sensors detect a threat, the first thing they do is sound an alarm;
  • the driver slows down to re-analyse;
  • if the speed is not reduced, and the risk of an emergency only increases, then the PCS forcibly brakes and tightens the seat belts;
  • the PCS decision is based on factors such as sudden pressure on the pedals, the speed of the car, the serviceability of the system, the distance between the car and objects impeding movement;
  • PCS is activated if the car is moving at a speed of 30 km/h or more, during heavy braking and only when the driver and passengers are fastened.

The system can be turned on and off at will. There is an additional pedestrian detection feature.

What is this

PCS is a preventive safety system that prevents the possible risk of a frontal or rear collision of the vehicle with other vehicles or other obstacles located in the direction of the vehicle or behind it.   • do not cover the glass opposite the sensor camera with anything, do not install tint;
  • if there are cracks on the windshield, replace it;
  • Protect the sensor camera from getting wet, intense ultraviolet radiation and bright light;
  • do not touch the camera lens;
  • Protect the camera from strong impacts;
  • do not change the position of the camera or remove it;
  • do not disassemble the sensor camera;
  • Do not install devices that emit strong electromagnetic waves near the camera;
  • do not change any objects near the sensor camera;
  • do not modify car headlights;
  • If you need to secure a large load on the roof, make sure that it does not interfere with the sensor camera.

The PCS system can be forcibly disabled . To do this, use the button located under the steering wheel. Disabling must be done in the following situations:

  • when towing your car;
  • when your vehicle is towing a trailer or another vehicle;
  • when transporting a car on other vehicles - automobile or railway platforms, ships, ferries, and so on;
  • while lifting the car on an elevator with the possibility of free rotation of the wheels;
  • when diagnosing a vehicle on a test bench;
  • when performing wheel balancing;
  • if the front bumper and/or radar sensor have been damaged due to an impact (for example, an accident);
  • when driving a faulty car;
  • when driving off-road or adhering to a sporty style;
  • when tire pressure is low or the tires are too worn;
  • if the car is equipped with tires other than those specified in the specifications;
  • with chains installed on the wheels;
  • when the car has a spare wheel installed;
  • if the car's suspension has been modified;
  • when loading the car with heavy luggage.

New requirements for coupling devices (towbars)

In the current traffic rules, coupling device malfunctions are described in a single paragraph 7.6:

7.6. The towing coupling and support coupling devices of the tractor and trailer link are faulty, and the safety cables (chains) provided for by their design are missing or faulty. There are gaps in the connections between the motorcycle frame and the side trailer frame.

6.5. The bolted connections and fixing of the drawbar to the trailer, the coupling eye to the drawbar, the king pin and the reaction rod nuts are not tightened or secured.

The drawbar axle nut is not fully tightened and is not cottered.

The nut securing the drawbar coupling loop is not screwed in completely and is not secured with a lock washer and nut.

The kingpin lock washers do not secure the nut that is tightened to the fullest.

There is play in backlash-free towing devices with a towing fork for a tractor coupled to a trailer.

6.6. The coupling parts do not correspond to the dimensional specifications:

  • The diameter of the coupling pin of coupling devices of semi-trailers with a technically permissible maximum weight of up to 40 tons must be in the range from the nominal, equal to 50.9 mm, to the maximum permissible, which is 48.3 mm, and the largest internal diameter of the working surfaces of the grips of the coupling device - from 50.8 mm to 55 mm respectively;
  • the diameter of the coupling pin of coupling devices with a wedge lock of semi-trailers with a technically permissible maximum weight of up to 55 tons must be in the range from the nominal, equal to 50 mm, to the maximum permissible, which is 49 mm, and for semi-trailers with a technically permissible maximum weight of more than 55 tons - in the range from nominal, equal to 89.1 mm, to the maximum permissible, equal to 86.6 mm;
  • the diameter of the towing hook throat of the hook-loop towing system of the tractor, measured in the longitudinal plane, must be in the range from the minimum, which is 48.0 mm, to the maximum permissible, equal to 53.0 mm, and the smallest cross-sectional diameter of the coupling loop rod — 43.9 mm, up to 36 mm, respectively;
  • the diameter of a kingpin of a standard size of 40 mm of backlash-free towbars with a tractor traction fork must be within the range from the nominal, which is 40 mm, to the minimum permissible, equal to 36.2 mm, and the diameter of a kingpin of a standard size of 50 mm is within the range of the nominal, which is 50 mm, to the minimum allowable, equal to 47.2 mm. The diameter of a replaceable insert with a standard size of 40 mm for a trailer drawbar must be in the range from the nominal, which is 40 mm, to the maximum permissible, equal to 41.6 mm, and the diameter of a replaceable insert with a standard size of 50 mm - in the range from the nominal, which is 50 mm, to the maximum permissible, equal to 51.6 mm;
  • The diameter of the ball of the towbar of passenger cars must be in the range from the nominal, equal to 50.0 mm, to the minimum permissible, equal to 49.6 mm.

If we talk about the new section as a whole, its content largely repeats section 6 of Appendix No. 8 to the Technical Regulations of the Customs Union “On the safety of wheeled vehicles.”
