This photo report is intended to show how the replacement of Toyota Camry V40 lamps occurs. In particular, how to change the front lamps of a 6th generation Camry with your own hands. Next, we will demonstrate replacing a low beam lamp, replacing a high beam lamp, replacing a sidebar lamp and a turn signal.
To replace the license plate lamp on a Camry, use these instructions.
Toyota Camry V40 lamp numbers:
- low beam lamp - H11;
- high beam lamp - HB3 (9005);
- turn lamp - 7440A (7444NA or 992);
- size lamp - 2825 (W5W).
Lamps for Toyota Camry 40: low and high beam, side lights, replacement
According to the manufacturer's recommendations, the following lamps are used on the Camry XV40: 1 – high beam lamp, type HB3;
2 – front parking lamp and license plate lamp, type W5W; 3 – low beam lamp, type H11 (halogen) or D4S (gas discharge); 4 – front and rear turn signal lamp, type WY21W*; 5 – fog lamp (FTL), type H11; 6 – rear brake light and side light lamp, type W21/5W; 7 – reverse lamp, type W16W; 8 – rear fog lamp, type W21W; 9** – side turn signal lamp (on the body), type WY5W* * The letter “Y” in the name means that the color of the lamp is yellow, although in reality the color of the lamp has an orange tint.
** Replacement of these lamps on the Camry XV40 is not provided; If the lamp burns out, you must replace the lamp assembly according to the instructions given in our reference book.
The above lamp type designations correspond to the new international designation. By clicking on this link, a table will open that shows the names of automobile lamps in both the old and new designations, as well as lamp diagrams for visual representation.
An article about light bulbs used in Japanese cars. Of course, the results of the above article must be subjected to the necessary healthy criticism, because the article was clearly written several years ago. And even now, most of the light bulbs are made in China.) And “directional LEDs,” as the author of this article put it, are a thing of the century before last.) A new generation of LEDs are now being produced, shining in all directions. This will be written below. By the way, I removed the low-beam lamp and the baseless side-light lamp from the headlight unit to see whether the lamp health monitoring system (hereinafter referred to as SKIL) is provided in my car or not. After connecting the tip of the “mass” wire to the negative terminal of the battery and starting the engine (that is, with the car turned on), I did not detect any warning lights or sounds. Thus, the Camry V40 does not have SKIL and, therefore, no decoy lamps are needed.
In fairness, it is worth noting that in our reference book “Toyota Camry. Operation, Maintenance and Repair Manual" is written: " Blinking of the left (right) turn signal indicator lamp at double frequency indicates a burnt-out lamp in any turn signal indicator. If the warning lamp does not light up or is constantly on, this indicates a malfunction in the turn signal electrical circuits.
“But this does not mean that the Toyota Camry XV40 has the notorious SKIL (in any case, I have not seen such a concept in the manual for the Camry). This is rather a “local” self-diagnosis of a malfunction of the lamp socket or electrical circuits, provided only for the left (right) turn signal indicator lamps. It’s easy to verify this by simply carefully looking at the LED replacements for this lamp: none of them contain resistors (or “decoys”) to bypass SKIL. At least I haven’t come across them: there are either halogen lamps with a glass base, or LED lamps with a plastic base (mostly), and without resistors. Therefore, I will summarize and repeat: the Camry V40 does not have a system for monitoring the health of lamps and, therefore, no lamps with decoys are needed. (Limiting resistors are mentioned in the 2nd part of the post.)
I share my experience in purchasing and installing automotive LED lamps. But first I present some interesting information found on the Internet. This link will open a review article entitled “Comparison of 8 LED lamps for car dimensions W5W, T10”
.
This review will help you navigate the choice of LED lamps for side lighting, and will also shed light on the types of designs of LED lamps and the change of generations. So, I decided to buy LED lamps for the side lights. I bought a set of two LED lamps at the car market (or “on the spot,” as they used to say on the forum), exactly like sample No. 2 in the review (see the image below), for 200 rubles. Information indicated on the packaging: “Car LED lamp AutoVins Long Life Light (LLL), China.
T10, 12V, 0.5W, 5700K (white light)" .
I bought it, as they say, for experience. I couldn’t believe that the so-called “corns” (samples No. 4 and No. 5) would fit in the headlight instead of the “short” halogen ones. In addition, the review mentioned such an observation as the melting process of the plastic base of the LED lamp during testing. Here Toyota Camry connoisseurs can rest easy. The design of the Camry headlamp provides a separate “compartment” for each lamp (“dimensions”, low and high beam lamps), and therefore eliminates the process of melting the plastic base of the LED headlights with the high beam (low beam) lamp in the event that they were in one compartment, as on some cars, in particular on the test car in the review. Further, I note that some forum users bought similar “corns” and shared their successful experience of installing them in side lights, without complaining about melting. In choosing the design of the lamps, I also proceeded from such considerations as if I don’t like the brightness and depth of glow of the lamps purchased and installed in the side lights, then I will reinstall them in the license plate lights instead of the standard halogen ones, since these lamps are universal (W5W). So, about two months ago I installed LED lamps in the side lights. I never had a desire to remove them and still don’t have one. They shine pleasantly, and not with white light, as the manufacturer stated on the packaging, but with bluish light. Please note that these lamps are manufactured by a well-known Chinese company. I bought them at the car market. Upon purchase, the seller gave a six-month guarantee and put a mark (his signature) on the kit: a receipt was not issued at that “booth.” For those who are in no hurry to install lamps, I would advise you to look at the ali website. For 80-100 rubles. You can order a set of (!) 10 such lamps, with different glow colors (white, warm white, blue, red, etc.). However, some customers wrote in reviews that out of 10 lamps received, one (rarely two) did not light up. But this is a small “payback” for so many lamps at the price of one purchased “on the spot”.
Now about LED lamps for car interior lighting. On Ali there are offers for a set of LED lamps for car interior lighting, which is very convenient, since such offers eliminate the long and drawn-out process of searching for LED lamps separately, especially for beginners. In other words, you don’t need to select lamps separately, but you can order an already formed set for a specific car model, in our case, a Camry. Here is a video in which the standard interior lighting bulbs are replaced with LED ones. Nevertheless, for those who are interested in independently selecting lamps (both by color and depth of glow), I provide the following link (in English only), which can help you navigate the design (type) of a certain lamp for a specific place in the car (door, dome and so on). I also provide a link to an article that provides comprehensive information about the selection of LED lamps for a car, as well as describes the advantages of LEDs (which I actually wrote about above) and the main types of lamps.

How to Change the Headlight Bulb on a Camry 40
Changing the size of a Toyota Camry, high and low beam headlight bulbs is a task that can be handled by any person who has basic electrical skills. If a light bulb burns out, you can completely remove it and replace it with a new one without the help of others, having a light set of tools at hand and knowing the peculiarities of the location of the dimensions of this foreign car. Contacting a car service center with such an insignificant problem as a burnt-out light bulb is unreasonably expensive and time-consuming. You can control yourself and change the dimensions of the Toyota Camry 40 and other cars in the Camry range very quickly. You will only have to spend money on buying a new light bulb, which is not difficult to find.
At a technical level , changing a Toyota Camry headlight bulb is quite easy. The most difficult thing in this task is to remove the headlight by reaching its mounts in the body. But the optics can also be dropped on the spot, by limiting access to the light bulb sockets from the back of the optical device. There are several ways to get to them.
gain access to the headlight to change the size of the Camry 40 using 2 methods: from the side of the wheel arch and from the side of the bumper.
How to change a headlight bulb without removing the optics?
In the first case, this task is even easier to implement:
- turn the steering wheel in the direction opposite to the location of the headlight (if we change the bulbs in the left front headlight, then turn the wheel to the right, and vice versa);
- remove the wheel arch protection clamps and move it to the side by hand;
- take the base of the lamp and turn it 15 degrees counterclockwise, pulling it out of the socket;
- press your finger on the latch of the lamp socket connector and remove it completely from the headlight together with the socket.
How to change a headlight bulb without removing the optics?
Replacing the parking light bulb on a Toyota Camry 40. Part 2.
If the lamp burns out, it must be replaced with a new one. To change a light bulb on a Toyota Camry v40, you will need model 2825 (W5W). If there is a need to change the high beam headlight bulb, you should purchase model HB3 (9005) in advance. The close beam requires an H11 bulb, and the turn signal requires a 7440A.
It is not difficult to find where exactly the headlight bulb of a Toyota Camry 40 is located: it is located slightly above the turn signal lamp. You can identify the side light bulb by the black color of the socket. You can remove it using the same method as described above: take it by the base and turn it 1/4 turn counterclockwise, disconnecting the cartridge and the power supply. A new light bulb is installed using the same principle - you need to insert it into the socket and return it to its original place in the headlight housing, turning the base 15 degrees clockwise. In the same way, you can change the high and low beam lamps, as well as the turn signal bulb.
change a Toyota Camry light bulb together with cleaning and washing the headlights. If you need to clean the optics from dirt and dust, returning the lens to its former shine, you will have to completely remove the headlight from under the bumper. This is also not difficult to do, but in this case access to it is likely only through the hood.
- Using a screwdriver, unscrew the two bolts of the iron plate under the seal under the hood;
- remove the iron rail above the headlight;
- unscrew the three bolts securing the headlight itself;
- carefully bend the bumper;
- carefully pull the headlight towards you;
- disconnect the bulbs and connectors;
- remove the optical device.
If the light bulb burns out, you can unscrew it and remove it from the holder, then install a new one. It is better to disassemble the headlight removed from the housing for the next washing. To remove the headlight from the car body, you will need an 8” wrench, with which you can remove the electrical corrector. Then you need to unscrew the fastenings of the rubber seals with a screwdriver and remove the sealing rings (there are only three of them). After the headlight is disassembled, you can wash it from the inside using detergent and distilled water.
Replacing license plate light bulbs on a Toyota Camry XV40 2008 Toyota Camry 2.4
Since the 6th generation Toyota Camry has a headlight with partitions, it may be more difficult to remove accumulated dust and dirt. It is recommended to use a small sponge to thoroughly wash the sections. Some people use a cunning method: they cut an ordinary dishwashing sponge into small squares and place them inside the headlights, filling them with water and detergent. This way it is possible to very painstakingly remove the remaining dust and dirt from the diffuser.
After all manipulations with water, the headlight must be carefully dried before changing the light bulb of the Camry 40 size. Before this, the headlight must be assembled in the reverse order:
- install the corrector using an 8” wrench;
- put all the rubber seals in place, securing them with standard fasteners using a flat screwdriver;
- Turn the headlight adjusters so that the holes for the lamp are in the center.
Next you need to connect all the connectors and lamps to the power supply. To return the headlight with new bulbs installed, you need to carefully bend the bumper again and place the optics in place so that it goes beyond the special protrusion on the inside of the bumper. Next, screw back the three bolts securing the headlight and return the iron strip under the bumper to its place. Now the change in dimensions of the 2006 Toyota Camry 40 is considered complete.
Which lenses are suitable?
There are several types of lenses that fit the V40: In addition to the standard Koito lens, Hella 3R lenses fit the V40. They produce quite bright light with excellent edging, the module meets high quality standards and the brightness level exceeds factory brightness.
Manufacturers offer a large selection of halogen headlights; if necessary, you can find bi-xenon lenses or luminous rings. The effect is similar to Eagle Eyes, but technically similar to Sonar.
Replacing and cleaning lenses on the V40 is no problem: simply remove the headlight, remove the lens, replace it without disturbing the mount. The optics can be cleaned using a dryer, a soft cloth that does not leave scratches. Take a close look at the reflector; you may need to replace it if it has become dull and is not scattering light well enough.
Headlight adjustment on a Toyota Camry 50, 30 or V40 is approximately the same. This is necessary after any intervention in the design, regardless of whether only the light bulb, the optics as a whole, or its individual elements have changed. In any case, the factory settings will be reset. When set correctly, the light should fall onto the road, making it well illuminated, while with low beam the headlight
should not come into the eyes of oncoming drivers.
You can adjust the optics yourself; to do this, you will need to turn a special adjustment screw. It is located on the headlight unit in the engine compartment. When you turn on the screw headlight on a Camry 40 or 30, the housing will move up or down, and you can also adjust it horizontally. The best setting can be achieved using mobile optical devices, you can use the screen. If you don't have the necessary equipment.
In order for the adjustment to take place correctly, the car must be refueled and placed on a flat surface. A driver weighing at least 75 kg must sit in his seat. The car must be parked in front of the screen at least 5 meters away and the wall will do this.
Before adjusting the headlights and marking the screen, make sure the tire pressure is correct. Every little detail influences the correct settings. When driving a car, you will definitely notice if it is not configured correctly. Before starting work, it is recommended to turn the car to the side so that the suspension is in the correct position.
You will need to draw some vertical lines on the screen or wall. Label them with numbers or letters. As for the line of the machine, they should be symmetrical. The first line must be located at a certain height, it must correspond to the distance from the ground to the center of the headlights. The second stripe should be located 75 mm below the first. Aim it from the center of the patch.
The headlight range control for Camry V50, 40, 30 and other models is located on the dashboard. This device will help adjust the light to the desired position depending on the load that the car must withstand at the moment, that is, with one driver, a full tank and no passengers. If there are more passengers in the cabin, you will need to adjust the light again. You won't need to leave the cab to do this, as you will no longer need to adjust the headlight housing.
Some cars do not have a hydraulic corrector; to adjust the optics, you will need to install screws located under the hood of the car. This method is not so convenient, it is often found in Toyota 30 series because they are older copies.
Begin the adjustment by turning on only the low beams. The Camry's headlights are adjusted one by one, so the non-adjustable headlights are covered with cardboard. It is recommended to start by adjusting the right headlight, then move on to adjusting the left one, after closing the right one. You can use multiple screws for adjustment. After adjustment, remove the cardboard from the optics and compare the upper illumination limit of both headlights. The intersection points of horizontal and inclined lines must also coincide.
Replacing low beam lamps for Toyota Camry V30, V40, V50: markings and characteristics.
Low beam lamps must provide good visibility at a distance of 50 meters in front of the car. At the same time, the headlights must be adjusted in such a way that not only the road, but also part of the roadside is well illuminated.
Considering that, according to our legislation, a car must travel on public roads with running lights turned on at any time of the day, these elements bear a large load and often fail. Let's take a closer look at what lamps are installed on Toyota Camry modifications and how they are replaced.
Why does the Toyota Camry low beam bulb burn out quickly?
The serviceability of the lighting system is one of the main criteria that any vehicle must have. This is especially important in the dark, since visibility deteriorates significantly, and the driver is simply not able to react to an obstacle with sufficient speed to stop the car.
The most popular light source in Toyota Camry is a halogen lamp. It is a flask with a filament inside. This type of lamp is quite popular due to its low cost, long service life and availability. But, despite its large resource, it can fail prematurely. There are several reasons for this:
- off-road vehicle operation, shaking, mechanical damage to the filament;
- high generator charge current;
- short circuit in the wiring;
- faulty or oxidized terminals.
The guaranteed service life of a halogen lamp is 450-550 hours. This is approximately 150-180 days, with normal use of the car. In practice, this figure may be slightly higher. If the lighting device fails much more often, it is necessary to check the integrity of the system and eliminate the malfunction.
Some Camry models are equipped with xenon lamps. This is the most modern and technologically advanced type of lighting device, which is capable of creating a brighter light beam due to the glow of inert gas in the lamp. The service life of such elements is much longer, but it is necessary to install additional ignition units.
In addition to halogen and xenon lights, cars are equipped with LED low beam lamps. They have a more robust design and are not affected by vibration. Their following advantages include:
- brighter, softer light;
- insensitivity to voltage changes;
- reduced energy consumption;
- long service life;
But they also have disadvantages. The lamp requires a rated operating current to operate. This is achieved by installing additional resistors. The light beam from such parts is highly scattered, so it is necessary to install lenses in the optics. Well, the main drawback is the high cost.
Types of lamps for Camry V50, V40, and V30
To select suitable Toyota Camry low beam bulbs, you need to know the model modification and year of manufacture. Depending on the Camry version V50, V40, V30, either xenon or halogen elements are installed.
The Camry V30, which was produced in 2003-2006, was equipped with a halogen lamp with an H7 base. From 2006 to 2011 it was replaced by the V40 model. On it you can find not only halogen, but also xenon. Base parameters for Camry V40 are H11/D4S for halogen and xenon, respectively. The Camry V50 has been produced since 2012 and had the same base parameters - H11/D4S.
Some later Camry models use LED headlights for low beams. To form a beam of light, they are supplemented with lenses.
Replacing lamps
Important! Do not touch the glass part with bare hands, as remaining fingerprints will significantly reduce the life of the part.
Replacement occurs the same in all cars, regardless of the series and year of production. To replace the low beam bulb on a Camry V30, V40 or V50, you must perform the following procedure:
- open the hood to gain access to the interior of the engine compartment;
- remove the negative terminal from the battery. This is necessary in order to avoid short circuits due to careless actions;
- disconnect the terminals located on the lamp base;
- to remove the product, you need to turn it counterclockwise;
- install the new part into the seat and fix it in the socket by turning the body a quarter clockwise;
- connect the battery terminals;
Remember! If fingerprints remain on the flask during work, it is necessary to remove them using a napkin or short-pile cloth pre-soaked in alcohol.
Toyota Camry V40 lamp replacement procedure
You can change low beam lamps yourself, even without the relevant experience.
To reduce the likelihood of failure of xenon elements, experts recommend the following:
- regularly check the electrical contacts of the vehicle network, avoiding loosening at the fixation points;
- monitor the state of the moisture protection of the ignition unit;
- To avoid burnout of the gas mixture, do not turn on or turn on the headlights too often;
- do not “wink” with flashlights;
- turn on xenon optics no earlier than a few minutes after starting the engine.
Tools and consumables
To replace low beam elements on a Camry B40, you do not need a tool. If you plan to install lamps on side lights at the same time, you will need a small screwdriver. New lamps and gloves are prepared as consumables. It is not recommended to touch the glass with bare hands, as sweat secretions will shorten the life of the part.
First wipe the light bulb with a clean rag soaked in alcohol (do not use solvent). If elements of different types are removed and installed, it is better to carry out the operation in pairs. Otherwise, there will be a noticeable difference in the light beam and brightness between the right and left headlights.
Replacement instructions
The process consists of several simple steps:
- Make sure that the markings on the lamp correspond to the desired indicator.
- Raise the hood of the car and disconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Dismantle the old element by turning it counterclockwise by 45°.
- Insert the new electrical device into the socket, turn it a quarter turn to the right until a characteristic click is heard.
- Check the reliability of fixation.
- The electrical connector is put in place, the battery is connected, and the functionality of the optics is checked.
After replacing lamps, they may need to be adjusted. If the automatic corrector does not work or does not cope with its duties, the adjustment is carried out manually. The car is placed on a flat area in front of a wall or other flat obstacle.
The adjustment procedure is as follows:
- Measure the operating range of the autocorrector.
- Determine a setting level that is 2 times the maximum.
- Under the plugs on the back side of the light elements there are adjusting screws.
- Apply markings to a wall or other suitable vertical surface.
- The car is installed at a distance of 5 m, the light flux is directed strictly to the center.
- Turn on the low beam, draw a vertical line from each beam.
- Apply 2 horizontal lines (along the height of the optics and 5 cm below).
Each headlight is adjusted separately, covering the element one by one with an opaque material. Both lights should shine identically. The result is considered good if the beam of light from each element is within the lower horizontal line, without going beyond the boundaries of the central strip from the adjacent headlight. To raise and lower the lamp, turn the screws to the right or left, respectively.
Additional light bulbs used in Camry
The serviceability of lighting systems guarantees efficient control and safety on the road. Therefore, it is important to monitor the condition of lighting fixtures. In addition to the working order of the low beam, you need to be sure that when driving at night, the car is clearly visible to all road users. If other lighting elements fail, you can select parts that match the following parameters:
- High beam 12v HB3(9005) 60W;
- Dimensions 12v T10 W5W;
- Turn signals WY21W 12v;
- Reversing light 12v W21W, 12v W16W;
- Number plate light 12v W5W T10;
- Brake light in headlight W21/5W 12v4
- Fog lights in rear lights 12v W21W.
LED light bulbs advantages and disadvantages
The advantage of LED bulbs is that they last an order of magnitude longer. They are also more economical than halogen ones, but do not think that their use will significantly affect fuel consumption. Properly mounted LEDs are better able to withstand shaking and vibration.
The performance of diodes is higher, i.e. their use in the rear lights will allow the car following you to see that you are braking earlier.
Diode car lamps have few disadvantages, but they are all significant. High cost - compared to conventional lamps, diode lamps will cost tens of times more. It is difficult to create a directed flow of glow.
Price is one of the indicators of a high-quality LED light bulb; good LEDs cannot be cheap. Their production is a technologically complex process.
Adjusting Camry headlights
Professional adjustment of headlights should be carried out only at special stands, at service stations. But if necessary, you can slightly adjust the direction of the light beam. This is necessary in order to provide better illumination of the roadside, or lower the headlights so as not to blind oncoming cars. The adjustment screws are located on the top of the headlights. During adjustment, it is necessary to place the car on a level surface, and a vertical surface - a wall or gate - should be located perpendicular to it. You need to turn on the headlights and mark the current position of the light beam with chalk on the wall. After this, adjustment is made relative to this mark.
Lamps used in Toyota Camry xv40
Owners of the "magpie" often complain about poor low beam. You can solve this problem by adjusting the headlights or replacing the light bulbs. We talked about how to adjust the optics and fog lights of the Camry 40 in this material.
In the manual for Toyota Camry 2006 - 2011 there is a table containing information about electric lamps.
Detailed information about light bulbs used in optics and flashlights of Toyota Camry XV40:
- high beam - HB3,
- side lighting and license plate illumination – W5W,
- low beam - halogen H11, gas discharge D4S (xenon),
- front and rear turn signals – WY21W,
- fog light – H11,
- rear brake light and dimensions – W21/5W,
- reverse gear – W16W,
- rear fog lamp – W21W,
- side turn signal (on the body) – WY5W.
The letter “Y” in the lamp labeling indicates that the lamp color is yellow. The manufacturer does not provide for replacing the bulbs in the side direction indicators; the lamp is replaced as an assembly.

Overall dimensions of the 2021 Toyota Camry and previous modifications.
Body size is one of the determining factors when choosing a car. The complexity of control in traffic depends on the length of the body. In a modern city, a small car makes it easy to find a parking space, but large dimensions make the car visible on the road, reducing the risk of accidents. The dimensions of a car are usually determined by 3 main parameters: body length, width and height.
To measure the length, the most protruding parts of the front and rear bumper are found, the width is measured between the wheel arches. The height is determined by the highest part of the roof. The presence of roof rails or antennas is not taken into account.
Halogen, xenon (gas discharge) and LED bulbs
The 2007 Camry was equipped with halogen lamps from the factory. Advantages of this type of bulbs: accessibility compared to other automotive light sources. Halogen lamps do not require the installation of additional equipment (ignition units, headlight washers). Variety, this type of lighting has been used for decades, so there are a large number of reliable manufacturers producing high-quality products. The light is not of poor quality; in terms of luminous flux characteristics, halogens are inferior to xenon and diodes, but provide acceptable road illumination.
Disadvantages of halogen lamps: low brightness compared to xenon and LEDs, which provide better visibility at night. Low efficiency, consume a large amount of energy without producing a bright luminous flux. Short service life; on average, xenon lamps will last 2 times longer, and diode lamps 5 times longer. Reliability is not high; halogen lamps use an incandescent filament, which can break if the car is shaken.
Xenon lamps
In rich configurations of the Toyota Camry 40, the dipped beam is xenon; many owners of a magpie with conventional optics install xenon. One of the options for how to do this is described here.
The advantages of xenon over halogen are that the light is “stronger”. The luminous flux of a gas-discharge lamp is 1800 - 3200 Lm, for a halogen lamp it is 1550 Lm. The xenon spectrum is closer to the daylight spectrum, more familiar to humans. Such lamps last several times longer, consuming less energy.
The disadvantages of xenon include its high price relative to halogen optics; if configured incorrectly, the gas-discharge light creates much more trouble for oncoming motorists; the light may fade over time and will have to be changed.
Replacing lamps on Toyota Camry 40
You don't need any tools to replace the low and high beam bulbs on your 2009 Camry. Let's start talking about changing lamps from low beam. The low beam lamp is located in the center of the headlight unit. We turn the base counterclockwise and remove the light source from the headlight, disconnect the power by pressing the latch. We install the new lamp and perform the assembly in reverse order.
Do not touch the halogen lamp with bare hands, the remaining traces will lead to rapid burnout. You can erase prints with alcohol.
The high beam lamp is located on the inside of the headlight unit. Replacement occurs according to the same algorithm as for changing the low beam lamp. We unscrew it counterclockwise by pressing the lock, disconnect the lamp, install a new one and assemble it in reverse order.
Replacement of the parking light bulbs and turn signal of the Camry 2010 is carried out from the side of the wheel arch. To gain access to the light fixtures, turn the wheels away from the headlight, use a flat screwdriver to remove a couple of clips and bend the arch protection. We have two connectors in front of us: the top black one is the marker, the bottom gray one is the turn signal. Replacing these lamps is not much different from the previous ones.
Headlight Removal Procedure
It is worth noting that the procedure for removing optics is almost the same on all models of the Camry family. The differences are only in a few small details. This should also be taken into account when replacing light bulbs by size. for example, to perform this operation you will have to remove the headlight on the Toyota Camry v40 restyled version, while on other car models it is easy to change without such large-scale actions.
To remove the main lighting device, you need to release part of the bumper:
- Open the hood of the car and unscrew the 2 bolts on the radiator grille. These are body kit mounts.
- Then 2 caps are removed. To do this, they “mute” their central part. Before assembling, be sure to carry them into the office by pressing the center of the caps.
- In the same way, it is necessary to remove
the clips located in front of the plastic wing cover. - The liner is then carefully removed, after which the mounting screws are tightened using a 10-head socket.
- We unscrew the lower protection of the engine compartment, secured with 6 bolts.
- Then lock the mounts located directly next to the headlights.
- Part of the bumper has been removed in the headlight area.
Each element is secured with 3 bolts. When the headlight
unscrews, it should be slightly extended towards you, then you can already disconnect the wires leading to the lamps. Assembly is carried out in reverse order.
Only by removing all fasteners can you disassemble the kit and gain access to the optics.
Considering that the glass in the headlights is made of plastic, the need to replace them arises every 2-3 years of intensive use of the car. It is also worth noting that most Camry models offer a wide selection of alternative optics, which differ from the standard ones in both cost and lighting quality.
Replacing lenses on Camry 2011
To replace a faded lens on a Camry 40, you need to disassemble the headlight. You can open the optics by heating the junction of the body and the lens in a circle with a hair dryer; be careful not to melt any element. The second method is to unscrew all the screws, remove the anthers and plugs, metal parts from the headlight, and place it wrapped in a towel in an oven preheated to 100 degrees.
After warming up the optics, begin to carefully remove the housing from the lens using a flat-head screwdriver. Take your time and gradually open the headlight. If necessary, warm up the optics again.
The sealant will form fibers that should not get into the inside of the optics. After opening the headlight, while it is hot, glue all the threads of sealant onto the headlight housing or lens.
The lens is attached to the body with three clamps, open one of them and carefully squeeze out the lens. Buy lenses with transition frames, which will greatly simplify your work. We replace the lens with a new one and wipe it with a 70% alcohol solution. You can remove dust and debris from the internal parts of the headlight with a dry, lint-free cloth.
Acetone should not be used! May damage surfaces of parts.
You cannot change the lower edge (cut line) of the shield slot; you will blind oncoming people.
The lens is in place, preheat the oven and place the headlight, wrapped in a towel, in there for 10 minutes. We remove and press the glass against the body, do not overdo it, the glass may crack, it is better to repeat the procedure 3 times. The glass is in place, screw in the screws and continue in the oven for 5 minutes.

It will be much easier to change the turn and clearance lamps from the wheel arch . To do this, you need to turn the steering wheel (and the wheel, respectively): to the left if the replacement occurs on the passenger side, and to the right if the lamps are changed on the driver’s side.
Then you need to remove at least two fastenings of the protection in the wheel arch, and unscrew the protection, gaining access to the lamps.
Replacing low beam lamp Camry V40
The low beam bulb is located in the center of the headlight assembly. Turn the base of the lamp a quarter turn counterclockwise and remove the lamp from the headlight. Then press the latch and disconnect the power connector.
The new lamp should be connected to the connector, inserted into the headlight and turned a quarter turn clockwise.
Replacing front light bulbs
How to change the low beam light bulb on a Camry ? It is located in the middle of the headlight structure. The base of the lamp must be rotated counterclockwise approximately 90 degrees. After this, remove the headlight cover and remove the failed bulb from under it. Then, by lightly pressing the latch, the electrical contacts are disconnected.
A new light bulb is connected to the corresponding connector, the headlight is inserted, which is carefully turned the same 90 degrees, but clockwise until fully installed.
Before changing the fog light bulb in a Camry , you should take precautions. It is advisable to carry out this operation with gloves so as not to touch the surface of the inserted light bulb with your fingers. Otherwise, fingerprints may cause the lamp to burn out prematurely.
If the new lamp becomes dirty, you need to carefully wipe the glass surface with a cloth soaked in alcohol.
Replacing the high beam lamp Camry V40
