4. Disconnect the cable end by pressing it from the pin on the selector lever assembly, then press the latches on the shell and remove the cable from the lever assembly (see Fig. 5.4, a, b).

5. Pull the cable into the passenger compartment through the seal in the engine compartment

6. Installation of the selector cable is carried out in the reverse order of its removal.

7. Adjust the cable as described below.

8. Loosen the nut on the automatic transmission manual control lever (see Fig. 5.2).

9. When working with automatic transmission, set the automatic transmission manual control lever to the Neutral position (see Fig. 5.9,a-c).

10. Once inside the cabin, set the selector lever to the Neutral position.

11. Have an assistant hold the selector lever (inside the vehicle) motionless, applying slight force in the direction of the Reverse position, while you, operating the automatic transmission, securely tighten the nut on the manual control lever.

12. Check the operation of the selector lever and try to start the engine in all fixed positions of the selector lever. The engine should only be started in the Park and Neulral selector positions.
